So, I got done watching the Chiefs/Chargers games and looked around for some other sports. On ESPN they had an NCAA women's volleyball playoff game, and they showed the two female announcers wearing COVID masks. The people in the stands weren't (it appeared the game was in Columbus), but the two chicks calling the game, on national TV, sitting about 12 feet apart, were. I turned it off.

You turned off college women's volleyball because of what announcers were wearing?

Did I just read that right?

So, does anyone want to give me the synopsis on what is going on with this virus? Specifically as I see every sport/athlete ravaged with it now.

I’ve mostly checked out - said before I’m vaxxed and boosted…and will mask up in places that require and/or I sense that is what’s most comfortable to everyone else. Otherwise, I’m living as “normal” as I can with friends and family.

Strictly following the sports world has me wondering wtf is happening (again). And what needs done to get out of this because it’s been too long.

So we've got a new mutation, it's much more contagious but no media coverage if that means it's any more deadly or not.

It may also be completely resistant to vax and boosts but you should go get them anyway

Done and done. Especially before seeing older family for the first time in a couple years this holiday - it’s a weenie shot…I’ve put way worse into my body so it’s the least I can do.

I thought I saw deaths are still trending down overall?? But like I said, I’m not tracking this story nearly as close as I used to.

update - slight tick back up after trending down. Still much lower since September (~1900 deaths moving 7-day down to under 1200 now…fuck those numbers are still horrifying to see daily).

I mean... he didn't just see masked-up women's volleyball announcers on the TV, get himself worked up about how he couldn't bear the sight of such a thing and change the channel. No. He did that and then came here to report to us that he couldn't bear the knowledge that there were two announcers calling a women's volleyball game that he was apparently going to watch but for these masked-up gals. Oh.. and they work for ESPN. Let's not forget that.

Don’t forget that it was in Columbus where there is a mask mandate in place. So all the announcers were doing was following the local mandate. I saw the ESPN bus on the highway the other day doing 65 in a 65 zone and I was like “fuck this!” and got off the highway right then — didn’t even wait for an exit, I just drove my car right off the side into a ditch. What a bunch of fuckers!

Maybe ESPN should add trigger warning that you might see people in masks while watching their broadcast?
