Politicians are flexing muscles and no one is even saying boo about it. They taste power like this and they aren't just going to give it back. That's not who they are.

The vast majority of Americans are going to survive this pandemic. When are we going to start thinking about what our country will look like when we do?

Cops have selectively targeted out of staters for harassment, ticketing, etc. for decades, especially if they have the temerity to be black. I'm unimpressed and think it's wrong, but it's not really new, just now in your conscious awareness.

The overwhelming evidence is that this is false. Instead, what people do is accept the misinformation that matches or supports their existing views and reject the information that doesn't.

They haven't been joined by the national guard and they haven't gone door to door looking for New Yorkers (or Muslims or Jews or whatever they feel like doing next in a state of emergency)

This is so far beyond the pale of giving out of state drivers extra scrutiny for speeding tickets that it's not even funny.

They have troops in the airport, bus stations and rest stops specifically targeting a select group of American citizens with no warrants. It's just a power hungry Governor trying to act like she has the authority to supersede the Constitution.

Well, come on now...how's the governor supposed to know how bad of an idea this is? It's not like some other nation in the last 100 years has tried this...

No matter how noble (it's debatable) the Governors intentions and no matter how annoying New Yorkers are, the Constitution is the Constitution.

This is against the law and the cops/weekend warrior Guardsmen are following an illegal order.
