Contest IX - Where Am I?

Buckeyedynasty;1061698; said:
Saigon, Vietnam

Buckeyedynasty is the winner. The city is currently listed on maps as Ho Chi Minh City; however, my local guide said that the Vietnamese refer to it as both Saigon and Ho Chi Minh City. So Saigon is acceptable. Prizes to be awarded when I return.

Additional greenies to anyone that can ID all four pictures (clues in post #1) to the appliciable clue.

Go Bucks!!!

Picture Clues

1. Hoe as in "Ho Chi Minh"

2. Edwin Starr musician who did "War" - anti-war song from the Viet Nam era.

3. Three is from the Comedy Club "The Belly Room" in LA as noted by sandgk. Now this may be a coincidence, but when I looked this one up I noticed that the real sign says, "Ding Dong." So, I figured this was pointing out the "Dong" part. And like Van Nuys, CA (porn capitol of the world), there are many Dongs in Viet Nam

You know what? I don't give a fuck where you are...

In fact, I think I hate you... because you travel way too much... and I'm still stuck in Columbus.

Not that Columbus isn't great or anything, but...

I want to travel...

*sigh*

You suck.

Ok... you don't really suck...

I'll admit it... I'm just jealous... and tipsy...

My kitchen.

Correct I think that I was in your kitchen. I even happened to take a picure to prove it:

You will notice Buckeyeskickbuttocks in the front middle of the photo grilling something for his friends and neighbors. I didn't see anyone complain about his food, so he must be a really great chef. Also, you have to envy his taste in fine dining room furniture (i.e. blue tables and red stools).

The winner. All the prizes (medal, vDollars, and greenies) to Buckeyedynasty. Congratulations.

Would have been correct if you got in before Buckeyedynasty. However, I like your effort to steal the contest on a technicality. Ho Chi Minh City in now the official name of the city; however, since the Vietnamese still refer to it by both names, Saigon is acceptable too. Greenies to you.

I'll take a new fridge rather than the vcash, please.

The city had "dong" in it which was a clue. Good try; however, wrong reference to dong. Greenies for you. Good luck on getting a new fridge.

Dong Khanh International Hotel
Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam

Edit: The Katt was too quick for me while I was researching clues.

Another good pick up on the "dong clue"; howver, the hotel was not what I was referring to. I didn't stay in a hotel there. Greenies to you.

Great analysis on the four picture clues:

#1 - "Uncle Ho" (i.e. Ho Chi Minh) may be the original ho.

#2 - Congratulations to anyone who recognized Starr's picture.

#3 - Great investigation on the "dong poster". However, the "dong" was meant to refer to the unique name of the Vietnam currency.

Sixteen thousand Vietnamese dongs are equal to one US dollar. A dong is approximately equal to .0000625 cents; which is slightly more than a vDollar is worth.

#4 - Miss Saigon is a great play. I'm glad someone recognized the poster.

More greenies for you and the doggie.

Thanks to everyone for playing.

The "Contest X - Where Am I? " coming soon to a bulletin board near you.
