One of the things that's going to change with BP 2.0 is an increased importance placed on content. Community driven, as well as original articles written by contributors to our site. BP has always had amazing content, I can't tell you how many times I'd follow incoming links back to other fan sites where they would rave about the completeness and impartiality of our old game previews (as an example). So it's going to be important to have static copies of our content on the front page, as well as within the forum where we can discuss it.

Part of our content approach is going to be social, and I've got a couple terrific volunteers who are passionate about that. Part of it is going to be in concert with our partner, USA Today.

For the past couple of years we've been producing original content for publication in their glossy preseason magazines as well as many of their regional papers. We're going to look at scaling that up, as well as doing more to draw other USA Today content back here. Indeed, when articles start to roll, some of them will be led with relevant photographs (when we can't locally source from our own amazing photog) from that partner's repository.

Just wanted to post this in case people have ideas about how to really get BP back on track. We're talking about a terrific and symbiotic relationship with an outstanding blog that ties right back into our core userbase, we're going to ramp up our social presence to put a spotlight on the fact that we're aggregating news from around the web better and in a more timely manner than anyone else, we're going to launch our own regular article series on a couple fronts, and we're going to continue to work with USA Today (covering the whole conference) as we have been. Ideas? Want to get involved? Want to blur the line between forum posting and heavier article creation? BP is and will always be a community effort. We're a team, and teams are always looking for stars to break out.

Just got final pre-release copies of our basketball season preview from the courier today, so had this stuff on the brain.
