Greetings, Buckeye Nation.

I bleed Maize and Blue and as such don't expect to be welcomed here with open arms. Nevertheless, I'm compelled to congratulate Ohio State for not only a great win today, but another outstanding season of football. You guys played one heck of a football game, and completed the task with an exclamation point. Kudos, and best of luck in Glendale -- you've decidedly earned it.

As a die-hard Michigan fan I'm not particularly fond of the Buckeyes, but you definitely have earned my respect -- not only for your consistent performance on the field, but also the heartfelt wishes extended by members of this forum who paid their respects to Coach Schembechler.

Despite our differences, it's a pleasure to be part of the greatest rivalry in all of athletic competition. The spirit will never die.

I'll give a GPA for that.

I have a HUGE amount of respect for UM. I have a lot of family that lives in Auburn Hills, and are huge Go Blue'ers. It is nice to see fans that "get it". I think this game is much more about the great competition and tradition, than each side "hating" the other. I hope UM wins the Rose Bowl against whoever they play....and that our two teams end up ranked #1 Buckeyes #2 Wolverines....just like it always should be!!!

I don't know that without such a great rivalry, would OSU or Michigan be as good as they are? Probably not. You recruit to beat your rival, to make you better than they are, and when they are two of the best, then you become the best.

Neither team's D lived up to expectations. OSU let a bunch more than 7.2 points in this one, and Michigan's D let a bunch more than 40 yards per game. Michigan's O did MORE than expected, and OSU's O met expectations. (I think we now know that an irresistable offense ultimately overcomes an immovable defense). Those fumbles and bad center snaps weren't caused by an inept offense, but by young people anxious to defend against Michigan's onslaught.

Right now, OSU is in the middle of what Michigan enjoyed during the 2-10-1 and Fab Five years. Hopefully we enjoy it as much as Michigan fans did. Because eventually it will turn the other way again, as it always will.

Great post, great respect, and great luck to Michigan in the Rose. Make the Big Ten proud. Hopefully OSU will in the title game, against whomever.

:gobucks3: :gobucks4: :banger:

PS, during the hoopla on the tube building up to yesterdays game, I was pleased to see that Michigan acknowledged the rivalry. I remember quite clearly that Michigan players were saying that Notre Dame or Michigan State was the more important rivalry than OSU.

Thanks for the kind words and well-wishes.

One thing I neglected to mention previously: Troy Smith really impressed me last night in his interview with the Gameday staff. You can't help but respect a player of his caliber who did everything possible to take the focus off of himself and credit his teammates. That's always a pleasure to see, no matter the uniform.

That being said, though, I won't be missing him next November. :wink2:

Maybe he'll get drafted by Green Bay so he can continue to haunt Michigan fans by beating up the Lions 2x a season!

(That would also reunite him with A.J.!)
