  • I have a custom built computer and I'm trying to upgrade the graphics card from the 256mb one i have now. all I want to know is what do i need to look at so i know the new one im buying is compatible with my ASUS p4p800 deluxe motherboard? thanks guys.

    Just make sure that what you get is compatible to that motherboard.

    but which specs? im really not trying to be difficult... but when i look at all the different numbers on the specs sheet.. what SET of numbers deal with compatibility. again, i dont want you to tell me the number.. just tell me what i need to know so i can find it myself.

    ASUS P4P-800 series can accept anything in the 8x AGP line. That's what you're looking for. It cannot run a PCI-E x16 board.

    Honestly, I think you're probably near the ceiling of what that particular motherboard can push with a 256 Mb video card already, and I don't expect you'll see the results you think you should by replacing the video board.

    The P4P series (and the 3Gz-P4EE Prescott chip) is nearly four years old now.
