Comparison of what kind of games coaches lose

Props to you for putting this together. This definitely is a good reminder that no coach is perfect. All those coaches definitely have flaws that would make being a fan of their team frustrating at times. It has been quite the downer to be losing these big games these past three years, that's for sure. But would it be much more fun if Pete Carroll were our coach and we were dropping games against Indiana and Michigan-like opponents every year? And let's not forget Bob Stoops, he'd perfected the art of losing the big one far before Tressel had ever disappointed.

Tressel in my opinion, despite my frustrations with some things he did against USC, has gotten his team to play to the level they're capable of more often than any coach on that list (Mack Brown is probably the closest to him, actually.) And Tressel's one of the best recruiters up there, I'd place him just behind Meyer and Saban.

Another nice thing to consider is that things like Carroll not getting USC up for games against in-conference opponents and Stoops losing the big one are many times proven drawbacks to their coaching, whereas Tressel losing big games is really more of a recent trend. One that I think (and hope) will soon be proven to have been a fluke.

My contention is that the coaching staff has not gotten over the Fla loss. That loss was so out-of -character for that team and that staff. It looks like the staff has lost its confidence in games against ranked opponents. It almost seems like we give our opponents to much respect. I will admit that the D seems to have their swagger back...but the offense is still lacking something in the games against ranked opponents. You see that USC has more trouble against their own conference ..because of familiarity the blocking and routes and not buying in to the mystique. I will say we are The OSU and our talent matches up with any one. I think missed assignments and trying to be too perfect has hurt us in the big games. I say simplify the blocking and reads and just cut it lose. Jt can call a great game if he trusts his athletes. Hopefully Tp will become Troy and JT will let him cut it loose

I think that was true for awhile... take the LSU game for example where everyone was so hell-bent on revenge for the Florida game that they got too pumped up and screwed themselves with personal foul penalties.

But when I think about how innovative the coaching staff was against Texas and how we've exceeded expectations in these past two big games, I feel like our coaches have gotten their mojo back and are no longer uncomfortable due to the Florida loss.
