I could do without that new Sith blade too. Looks like lightsaber toothpicks coming out the side.

I've read some theories about the new lightsabers. One posits that they are "thinner" because the Sith lost the technology and ability to make them after RotJ. I guess that makes sense.
The side blades make some sense because it would prevent one from cutting down the length of the blade. I think a droid lost a hand in one of the prequels because of that.

Benedict Cumberbatch has been announced as playing Dr Strange in the upcoming Marvel film. I'm pretty sure in two summers there's going to be nothing but comic book movies out at the theater.
