Comeback player of the year announced.

What a stupid comparison.
perhaps, but it gets pretty tiring to watch guys get away with obvious cheating, and know that continuing to hide the truth will be their ticket to the HoF. Giambi is actually one of the more decent cheaters, but he's still a cheater.

Tibbs: "Baseball has no proof Giambi did roids? Uh, he admitted it on the grand jury. Oh, I guess he was lying to further his "comeback" credentials."

Tibbs, "leaked" grand jury testimony can't be admitted as evidence for anything .. when he testified, he was promised immunity. Baseball can't use it to convict him of anything.

If that testimony could be used against the Giambino, then the Yankees would've canceled his contract before the season even started.

"Yeah, Griffey certainly looks like he's done roids. Is it just a coincidence he's one of the few stars who's appearance hasn't changed in 10 years?"

So what? Did Randy Velarde or Benito Santiago (two guys specifically named in the BALCO trial)'s appearence change? Did Rafael Palmeiro's appearence change? Does Raffy look like he ever did 'roids?

Actually it could, it's called common sense and integrity, two things baseball knows nothing about. Cheaters should be kicked to the curb, but instead they are embraced and presented with awards (including the HoF in the future for some of them, since I'm sure you'll repeat that this is not a big award)

benito santiago's biceps' inflation was simple water retention i suppose. MLB isn't trying to convict giambi of anything. you made the statement that there was no clear proof he did roids. i would say his testimony indicating such is evidence. dont try and spin your way out of it.

Who said anything about convicting him, what were were saying is that he should have never been up for the award to begin with dunbass. See they can use common sense which is something that was leaked as comman sense.

And why is Palmario so bad for pointing fingers. He took his punishment and then told MLB where he got the stuff from. If you were busted for something and saw other people who you knew were dirty than you getting off scott free wouldn't you think about mentioning names to?

Raffy has yet to apologize, the only thing he's said is who else was guilty too... sounded more like sour grapes than a righteous action to me.

Ohh I agree that it's sour grapes. But just the way sloopy put it is was like he was condemming him not for taking the roids, but instead for outing other people. I personally think Rafie is a peice of garbage,

Common sense & integrity dictate that Giambi shouldn't recieve any awards. I agree with that. However, legal implications have nothing to do with either. And legally, he might as well have never testified, because you can't admit it for evidence. Don't shoot the messenger. I'm just telling you the way things are.

And I have firmly stated (many, many, many times) that all cheaters (Yankee or not) should NOT be allowed to enter the hallowed halls of Cooperstown, unequivocally.

tsteele316: "you made the statement that there was no clear proof he did roids. i would say his testimony indicating such is evidence. dont try and spin your way out of it."

No. Obviously he DID do steroids. A lot of them. And HGH (which he still could be on because MLB doesn't test for it). But, as stated (now for the fifth time) no one can use his testimony against him - HE WAS PROMISED IMMUNITY!!

If OJ came out tomorrow and said, "I did commit the double murder" you can't put him in jail - because legally, he was already tried and acquitted. We all know he did it, but reality and legal consequences are two different things, as we all should know by now.

buckeyefool: "Who said anything about convicting him, what were were saying is that he should have never been up for the award to begin with dunbass."

And I'm agreeing with you, STUPID! I'm just telling you the way things are. Baseball has no legal evidence of his steroid use to keep him off the ballot.

Let me firmly state, "I DON'T THINK HE DESERVES ANY AWARDS, EITHER!" (for the 5th time)

"And why is Palmario so bad for pointing fingers."

Maybe because he pointed his finger at an innocent man? Tejada gave him a Vitamin B-12 shot, not steroids.

"But just the way sloopy put it is was like he was condemming him not for taking the roids, but instead for outing other people. I personally think Rafie is a peice of garbage"

I'm condeming him for taking the roids AND for his actions thereafter. I said it before: Giambi is the only one who told the truth, and who took his punishment like a man. So, at the very least, I'm giving him kudos over the other users.

Actually yes, Raffy's appearance did change...look back when he was a rookie, he was stick man. Guys like Mark Grace and Fred McGriff have laughed (well, maybe not laughed like it was funny) about it publically, because according to them, when Raffy came up, he had no power to speak of...the he goes to Texas, and....poof!

It's sad all people are focusing on Giambi instead of Griffey. The man deserved this award now that he had a successful and virtually full season after the injury problems he's had the past several years in Cincinnati.

But folks will follow the negative story every time, apparently.

I didn't follow this mess too closely. Who promised him the immunity? Was it the legal system, MLB, or both?

I guess my thought would be that (if) MLB had nothing to do with the promise of immunity, they should be able to use his confession against him.
