Columbus Apartment Advice

When did you live there, tsteele? I have some buddies that moved in about 4 months ago, and they love it...everything is fine. I believe they said that there are new owners or something, but I'm not sure. Just wondering if my buddies are gonna have problems or not.

moved out 3 years ago.

the worst places in the complex were the ones whose front doors faced olentangy river road as they are the oldest places in the complex. as you move back towards the pool area, they are of better quality. The complex was a dive when we lived there, but as i said, the company that owned it previously is no longer there.

i knew some folks that lived there for a spell after i left. ownership changed twice for them as well. so its quite possible that ownership of the complex has changed hands 4 times in the past 5 years.

the only advice for your friends is to document absolutely everything that goes wrong with their place including when they make maintenance requests and so on. it will be essential if ownership changes hands during their lease. that happened to us and all of our request info was "lost" in the transition. despite the fact i had old phone bills showing i called there, corporate told me that i couldnt prove what the nature of the call was.

if there are major problems that they wont fix, threatened to escrow rent for a month. if they still do nothing, have it escrowed.

I appreciate it. The only problem my buddies have had was their AC went out overnight once. They didn't notice it until they woke up in the morning, and it was fixed by the time they got back from work. Their place is back close to the pool, too, so maybe that helps. We're always over there playing poker and ogling hotties, and I haven't ever seen any indication that people are unhappy.

they live in the manhattan part of the complex. they need to travel down towards the bronx to see what's really going on.

things probably have changed in the 3 years since we left. but the fact that OC has had at least 3 different owners in a 5 year span is a clear indication that there are issues there.

my personal advice is if you are looking for a place in that area, Fox and Hounds is a much better bet. Governor's Square is even better as far as townhomes go.

Meridian isn't too bad... my sister lived there for a couple of years... The bulk of the population is grad/med/law students from OSU, as well as young singles that just graduated from college. There is some major talent floating around, and it is close to downtown so the commute isn't too bad...
