The expected suspects were in the top five, which included Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma, Iowa, and Michigan State. Notre Dame fell in the poll after their heartbreaking loss to Stanford. Baylor also dropped in the poll after their overtime loss to TCU Friday night in Fort Worth.
Navy took a dive after their loss to Tom Herman's Houston Cougars on the road. Washington State dropped out of the poll after taking a 45-10 whooping in the Apple Cup at the hands of Washington. Mississippi State also dropped out after losing to Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl at home.
