Don't Immanentize the Eschaton
For those that have been there, what did you think of the place.

I went there in 2001 and had a great time. It was a great experience that really captured the history of the sport, at least in my opinion.

we went a few years ago on a trip from Wisconsin to Cleveland. Nice place... I don't know if I would make a special trip to go there but worth a stop if your passing by. We didn't stay long as there's really not much there.

I've been to the old College football HoF, not while it was there, but it's right down the road from my house.

I'll never go to the HoF because it's in South Bend.

I miss the old HoF. Carl Linder treated it even more shabbily than he did the Reds. :(

Hall of Fame to honor Pickens

DALLAS (AP) -- Boone Pickens, the billionaire alumnus who has donated more than $400 million to Oklahoma State, will be honored in December at the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame's induction ceremony.
Pickens, who donated a record $165 million in 2005 to renovate the university's football stadium and create an athletic village, will be recognized for his philanthropy work with this year's Distinguished American Award at the Dec. 9 ceremony in New York.
Pickens' most recent gift was $100 million to endow professors' positions at the university.

Also, Ohio State's Gene Smith will receive the John L. Toner Award given annually to honor a top athletic director.

I'd like to go, but I'm not making a special trip. I'd like to see ND's campus too. Maybe I'll stop there when I go to Chicago.

Despite everyone's hate for the Domers here, the campus is one of the most beautiful I have been to. I've visited the campus on both non-official and official tours (I have cousins who live within two miles of the campus and I considered going to ND for my PhD back when I was still thinking history instead of higher ed.) and find the place to just have the "academic" feel. If you ever do get a chance to visit, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart is the must see part of the campus.

I finally went to it last month, since I knew it might be moving fairly soon.

It was OK - they did have a room devoted just to the tOSU-TSUN rivalry, and I did learn a couple of things, but it just seemed like it could have been done better.

Don't worry - it will be. I assure you that Civic funding will be pulled from Not-for-Profits, faith based organizations, and the usual heard of Hand-Out Nation to build a first class facility in Atlanta.

If there is one thing we do well - it's getting our priorities out of whack. This looks like a perfect example for us to shine.

This must be part of the stimulus program in the south but I can't understand why they are moving it to Altlanta. I mean there's nothing there now except stills and corn bread factories.

Don't forget the Rap studios! If "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" has taught me anything - it's that 80% of the city is black.

I know you're being facetious, but in reality, it's a much better move.

This subject was covered on the radio and I agree that Atlanta would just be a better location than South Bend, Ind. The Chick-fil-a Kickoff, Chick-fil-a Bowl, and SEC Championship game will bring over 200,000 CFB fans just for those 3 games, I would assume a large percentage of those fans would include a stop at the CFB HoF while in Atlanta as part of their trip. Atlanta is a destination city, I would argue South Bend really isn't; Chicago is however, but that's not where it is. I'm not saying that this is any indication of the "football means more in the South" rhetoric or whatever, but economically, it's better than South Bend. Atlanta population ~5.5 mil, South Bend ~300k+. Atlanta is a major metropolitan city with plenty of other major tourist destinations, Georgia Aquarium, Coke Museum, Six Flags, Civil War Cyclorama , but really, it's a great place to have it.

And I disagree with this article that a Collegiate city would be much better. Except maybe Coulmbus...
