College Baseball/Softball News, Notes, Awards (Official Thread)

Nebraska baseball, playing with a chance to clinch a Big Ten title on Sunday, took most of the drama out of the day with a five-run first inning en route to a 9-0 win over Ohio State in Bloomington, Indiana. The win, coupled with Maryland’s win over Michigan earlier in the day, allowed the Huskers to clinch the outright Big Ten championship and the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Nebraska (29-11) finished the Bloomington Pod 4-0, and will host Michigan next weekend in Lincoln having already wrapped up the second conference title of the Big Ten era. This season, the Huskers navigated a 44-game all-conference schedule, and did so by only playing 12 home games before clinching the conference title on Sunday.

1) it would be cool to see Ohio State fans get the chance to go bonkers in a regional or maybe even Omaha

2) think of how wild college football crowds/games will be this fall

Point #1 = will never happen bc Gene Smith n co. don't give a crap about the program

Point #2 = they're gonna be CRAZY

great pitching duel between NC State and Vandy today. Vandy starter Jack Leiter (Al Leiter’s son) top 5 draft prospect drops a 1-0 game to NC State freshman Sam Highfill. NC State in the drivers seat in Omaha now.

Leiter struck out 15 in 8 innings. Only giving up that fateful 1 run. Talk about a tough luck loss at the worst time
