High School Colerain vs. St. X

Kyle Young/Cade Stover/Jack Sawyer m crush. Stomp!
  • Slightly off topic here but, Colerain vs. Glenville in a state championship game is shaping up. I will definitely be on hand if that one comes to fruition. Connor and the Cardinals are gaining a tremendous head of steam and the only team down here in SW Ohio with a real shot at them might be Dayton Wayne. We could have a very very young O-line next year and I see Connor getting playing time. Boone, Rehring, Barton, Cordle and Downing would be a massive O-line. Connor could see plenty of time as a second if he continues to work hard and be patient, as we've learned alot this year already that those guys are only one injury away from starting.

Uh...how about St. X, who has already defeated Colerain? Not sure where this Wayne stuff came from, but Wayne can't hang with Colerain. It's pretty much been recognized that Colerain and X are the two legitimate title contendors from Region 4. While I'm confident in X's chances, I'm not going to guarantee a victory. Let's just say Glenville and Colerain are both far from shoe-ins for the state title game. In fact, given the correct odds, I'd bet against either of them making it. But I digress, no need to go further off topic.

Connor Smith is a beast..he owns Aaron Brown, showing once and for all just how overrated Brown is.

St. X will not make it to the final four in SW Ohio. Wayne completely destroyed Centerville last week, whom is as good as or better than St. X, and is on a roll. Colerain is the class of Cincinnati. The earlier loss to St. X was a great game played by X and their defense is superb but Colerain will be ready come playoff time. I don't want to take away from what St. X has accomplished but they will not make it out of the Cincinnati regional. Wayne would have to play Colerain after that if they win out and they should. I have been able to watch all of the action in the Dayton area and the Wayne Warriors are for real this year.

All of the playoff games down here in Div IA are going to be wonderful to watch. I just see X slipping in the playoffs.

Wayne also lost to Elder, who is terrible this year. X beat Elder 44-10, with backups seeing plenty of action. Centerville isn't in the same class as X and Colerain. Centerville hasn't done anything to make me think they can hang with Colerain or X. They are a good team, but X and Colerain are in a different class than everyone else in R4 this year. You pointed towards C-Ville being on a roll, how about X being 9-0, I'd say they're on a roll too.

You haven't provided ANY evidence whatsoever that would validate your prediction that X will slip in the playoffs. I love how you just shake off the Colerain loss in week 1 by saying "Colerain will be ready come playoff time." And X won't? At least provide something you think will be different in the next matchup. The most common one Colerain fans give is that Gary Pride has improved since the first meeting. I'd have to argue that we can't judge that yet, as he hasn't faced a defense as dominating as St. X's is this year. How do we know that it wasn't X's defense causing those mistakes? Also, X has improved throughout the year. It'd be ignorant to assume that one team has improved and the other hasn't. In the first game, St. X's coach didn't open up the offense at all, because we were breaking in a new QB and wanted to control the clock. Now, there is a lot of confidence in our quarterback's ability to manage the game and play mistake-free football. He's only thrown one interception through 9 games, and has the poise to throw it away when there's nothing open rather than taking a sack or throwing an errant pass for an INT. Also, in week 1, Darius Ashley wasn't a big part of the St. X offense. Chris Cionni was a returning senior that was All-GCL last year, and he was still starting. He didn't do anything against Colerain's defense, while Darius had some big receptions and also a 30-40 yard run for the biggest play of the game. Since then, Darius has taken over the starting role and shown just how good he is. Colerain is going to be facing a much different and much improved St. X team compared to the one they faced in week 1. This game would be a dogfight, and I'm confident the winner will bring the trophy back to Cincinnati.

Your "Wayne Warriors" will get smoked by whomever comes out of the Cincy regional. It's X or Colerain. Either one smokes your region. BTW...X shutout Colerain and has given up an average of 3 points per game in the last 8 games. Centerville will get killed by either of these teams.
