Researching the Magic!
I am taking part in an event for a great charity, Give Kids the World, next Sunday, and I thought I would make the community aware of it (with the blessing of Clarity, many thanks!). The event is called Coasting For Kids, and is quite possibly the most fun fundraiser you could ever participate in, or support those participating...like me!

The basic premise is similar to something like Relay For Life in that I sign up and then get people to donate and sponsor me, only in this case I ride a single roller coaster non-stop for the better part of a day instead of running! This event is taking place across the country at Cedar Fair parks (the parent company of Cedar Point), and there are still a lot of spots open at most of the parks other than Cedar Point. If you enjoy riding coasters, do it for a good cause next Sunday, July 24th! Of course, if you aren't a fan of riding, but still want to participate, you can take part as a "virtual rider" that just does fundraising.

Our charity, Give Kids the World, is a fantastic organization, and I have seen their work in person and the families whose lives they help. During my time at the Walt Disney World Resort on the College Program I got to see first hand the amazing things that Give Kids the World does for families and children from across the country. I saw children and their families with smiles on their faces enjoying their visit, forgetting everything that makes their normal life less than magical.

So far we have raised a little over $30,000 across all the parks, and our goal this year is $50,000. My personal goal for the event is $200. If you are interested in participating and want more information, click on the link at the top of the post, or ask me! If you just want to donate, please don't just consider donating to me; look around for other participants who have low or no donations and spread it around. I know there's a lot of opportunity for word to spread through having this here on BuckeyePlanet, so if you can't donate or participate, but know someone who can, please pass the word along! You can find my donation page in my signature down there (my mom is also taking part, here's her page).

Ok, that's the end of my shameless plug. Again, many thanks to Clarity for allowing me to post this. Go Bucks! :osu:

Quick update: We have crossed the $40,000 mark across all parks for the event! The deadline to give for the event is Friday morning, so if you want to donate, do so soon! The links are in the first post. Again, please pass the word around if you know anyone who may be interested in donating, or even a company willing to match a donation!
