Cleveland Indians (2013 Season)

14-2 over Philly in front of a whopping 10,800 fans.

We have to be near the top in the majors in HR's right?

edit: oh god nope. 8th with 29 (and we've given up 30). Maybe it just feels that way since we go scoreless for a few games almost then crush 5 home runs in a single game.

They clubbed 7...seven...home runs tonight. Where in the blue fuck was that for the first month in all those other non-Astros games? The scouting report on the Indians before the season in SI said they would blow the fuck out of some ERAs, but wouldn't be consistent enough to win. How right they were.

Still, I guess 11-13, considering they played the AL East a lot, isn't as awful as it could have been.

Actually after tonight it's 36 homers in 24 games, so they have been bashing quite a few. Thing is, guys are starting to be on, so they are doing more damage.

Having pointed out the Astros thing (and they suck) but, I wonder what the runs per game/game starting temperature correlation looks like. Its been a chilly spring, and not to make excuses, but, you can tell there are some fair weather players on this team... Bourn has been out, obviously, but that guy dresses like the little brother in Christmas Story when its in the 40's. Might be a small factor, anyway, if these guys get comfortable out there, well, you've seen the last few games what they can do.

Great article on 5 managers coming from the woeful 1988 Tribe squad (the year I made my first Stadium pilgrimages as a tot).

Five managers with connection to 1988 Indians, an unbelievable story

Here's the list, which focused on the MLB managers:
Manuel, Phillies
Washington, Rangers
Francona, Tribe
Farrell, Red Sox
Black, Padres
Cory Snyder, hitting coach for SEA AA
Brook Jacoby, Reds hitting coach
Jay Bell, Pirates hitting coach
Dave Clark, Astros 3b coach
Rod Nichols, Phillies bullpen coach
Charlie Nagy, Diamondbacks pitching coach (didn't debut until 1990 but was 1988 #1 draft pick)

Plus a few guys in the broadcast booth (Candiotti in AZ, Tabler in TOR).

Fun stuff.

Our bats - when they connect its dangerous. But damn,
The hitting is so inconsistent it's mind-numbing.

i think it was tony bastian that tweeted that going into tuesday's game that 70% of cleveland's runs this year came in 30% of their innings played. unreal stat. certainly boom or bust.

How the fuck do you make it to the major leagues without having the ability to throw a god damn strike?

Jesus Christ I could throw 9 innings without walking this many guys (I just couldn't throw it 90mph).
