Cleveland Indians (2011 Season)

I'm tellin' ya, Perez lets runners on base just to induce those DPs...it isn't efficient, but it's effective. What's that? Three straight saves he's ended with a GIDP?

Brantley has been really big with RISP this year. He's looking like a pretty good part of the future and LaPorta hasn't been horrible. That CC trade isn't looking so bad. As an aside, how much does Mike look like ARod in the face? As I was watching the game and Brantley was up, my wife walked in and asked "since when has A-Rod been playing with the Indians?"

Nor is the Victor one. Masterson is a legit ace, folks. Going back to last August, he's been one of the best pitchers in all of baseball. He always had the stuff, the question was always with his makeup. Credit to Belcher for bringing this out in him. Oh, and...:beard:

I [censored]ing love this team.

great win...fun game to watch especially since I get zero coverage in Charlotte.

Besides the mental make-up of these guys, the next thing I noticed was how shitty Shin Soo Choo looked at the plate. He wasn't even close to anything...

And absolutely love the velocity and movement on Masterson's 2 and 4 seam fastballs. His delivery is a throw-back too which is fun...

It'd be great to get some October baseball out of this club.

Also of note, Drew Pomeranz skipped his start tonight (not injury related) so it appears he may be on his way to Akron as they need a starter on Wednesday.

Hagadone was promoted to Columbus a few days ago as well....not sure if that has been mentioned yet, he could be on his way sooner than later

If he's anywhere near as good as he was in Akron, I have to think he'd be up no later than after the AS break. Perez is getting the job done, no arguments there, but I think Hagadone is the long range answer at the back of the BP. Not this year, maybe not next, either, but down the road. Kid has dominant stuff. If he ends up settling into the closer role, and Masterson continues to pitch like an ace, that Victor trade was a big win for the Tribe.

I've been a fan of the Indians since I was a little kid.. I feel the need to say that before I say this:

I didn't expect to watch much baseball this year. I didn't expect to want to.

This is insane.

That was me as well back in March. I was going to ease the pain and just keep tabs on the sub-500 performance via fantasy baseball.

Needless to say, I am thrilled.

I took this picture before the game. Thanks to the rain delay and the guy I rode with we had to leave in the 4th inning. Too bad we couldn't stick around. Glad they were able to pull it out.

crazy to think about but most of the trades shapiro/annoneti have made are working out nicely right now...i was starting to make a list but found a article from yesterday that talks about all of the moves we have made so far...even tho it was so long ago i still have to add this

- Bartolo Colon and Tim Drew for Grady Sizemore, Brandon Phillips, Cliff Lee, Lee Stevens - it still blows my mind that we got this much talent in return for colon...i understand why we got rid of phillips but it sucks he had to do a complete 180 in cinci....we have had a huge void at 2nd base ever since

here is the article:

http://cleveland.indians.mlb.com/ne...23&content_id=19448084&vkey=news_cle&c_id=cle

The story of the 2011 Cleveland Indians' stunning rise to the top of the American League Central standings began long ago in a galaxy a world wide web away. Few were even aware the web contained the personal site of one Carsten Charles Sabathia until the night of Feb. 13, 2008, when said site posted an official statement from the AL's reigning Cy Young Award winner. In it, Sabathia, the Indians' former homegrown ace and first Cy Young winner in 35 years, announced that he was breaking off contract extension talks with general manager Mark Shapiro and assistant Chris Antonetti, making it clear that he would test the free-agent waters at season's end.
There the Indians were, on the eve of Valentine's Day, getting dumped.

Cont...

two trades not listed in the article, but no doubt critical to the team is

Eduardo Perez for Asdrubal Cabrera

Shin Shoo Choo for Ben Broussard
