I think they really did about the best they could do with this deadline, and they managed to do it without giving up any real serious prospect capital which is a big plus as well. They did enough to at least give themselves a chance.

I can’t recall the last time this organization made a trade for a player with a contract expiring in a few months. Is this the result of the minority owner wanting to be a bit more aggressive?

I think its really mostly just everything fell into place. Cozart was way down the depth chart, and it looks like the Nats are out there buying lottery tickets.
