Cleveland Guardians (2026 Season Thread)

Most people know this, but with new “challenge” rules, catchers who can “frame” will be less important.

Hedges is nasty as a pitch caller and defensively, but even $4M on a tight budget seems excessive to me……but I trust Vogt signed off on it, so I’m good.

…..I don’t think I’ll ever get over the awful trade of Josh Naylor that cost us more $$$ to bring Carlos Santana in….Still at a loss.

Apparently Jose Ramirez wanted him in the clubhouse, so I don't mind keeping that man happy.

I think the Naylor trade was the right one....one year of Naylor versus 6 for Cecconi. We weren't going to pay him, so we were going to lose him, and not even get the high comp pick in return.

Potentially 65 years for each of them, which seems unlikely but I think their MLB days are definitely long gone.

Maybe it’s me but I immediately think there’s some type of cartel influence bc nobody can be that stupid, right??

While that has happened in the past, that does not seem to be the cast this time. Some people just want to, despite no need to, align with that cartel/mafia/gangster mentality, i.e. Ja Morant. The cell phone records show Clase was texting with these bettors during games, joking with them, getting them comp tickets, etc.

The most frustrating part is Clase appears to be how Ortiz got roped into this. Yes, Ortiz could have said no, but if not for Clase he would never have been involved. Clase has made some of his big time money and now Ortiz never will.

The most annoying aspect to me is the clear impact it had on his ability to get outs. Shows how superior he thought he was to just waste a first pitch. Clase sucked at the beginning of the year and its because he was always behind in counts.

Moron.....and it absolutely contributed to a rocky start for his team.
