Cleveland Guardians (2025 Season Thread)

I quit posting in here when Guardians were playing well bc I felt like I kept jinxing them.

The best, and most exciting finish to a division chase I’ve ever seen. To battle back from 15.5 games down with the ISSUES these guys have faced…

-2 pitchers suspended for gambling
-Clubhouse all utility all-star out with a broken face on 96mph fastball
-Releasing veterans down the stretch

The amazing thing about this run, is the amount of guys who have LESS than 40 games of MLB experience who chipped in to make it happen.

-Parker Messik giving quality starts

-Erik Sabrowski giving quality relief out of bullpen

-C.J. Kayfus with timely hitting and I think some extra juice where we needed it with the disappointing year Carlos Santana was having. Nothing against Carlos as a person, but I feel like the turnaround in the season was when he was let go.

-Petey Halpin has been fun to watch and made some plays…has excelled in base running.

-Jonathan Rodriguez has had some timely hits including that beautiful 2R HR oppo shot against Texas

-George Valera has provided some pop as well

Anyways, I’m not expecting a ton in the playoffs considering we’re so depleted and young. That said, this will go down as one of my favorite seasons ever. We’re more than lucky with Vogt at the helm…..I just don’t see how anyone else gets as much out of what’s left of this roster.

Incredible run…on July 8th, the Tigers were 25 games over .500 at 59-34 and peaked again on August 23rd at 78-53. Tribe was sitting at 42-48 on July 8th and 64-64 on August 23rd respectively. These boys played their hearts out and it was fun to watch.

I was sitting with some friends last night watching the game. Once beefcake blasted that HR for the rangers in the 10th, I turned to my buddies and said they’ve score 4 in extra innings before. It’s doable. Naylor came through and we got a great 9 pitch at bat by Halpin for the walk to get the game winning run at the plate. Rick Manning said something about Rocchio getting his first RBI in quite some time, hoping to to get another base hit to score a run, and I turned to my friends and said, “Rocchio should just end it now.” And the next pitch he smashes it off the foul pole. Stats said it went 380 ft. Seemed longer than that and I would love to know what the exit velo was on that because that ball got out in a hurry and was middle deck bound imo.

Comeback for the ages, outright central division crown, back to work on Tuesday!
