Glenville had wins in the 4x100, 4x200, and 110HH (Ginn). They came in 2nd in the 4x400. The B team took 3rd in the 4x100 and 4th in the 4x200. Richardson gave up in the 110HH midway through when Ginn was smoking him. :)

Ginn Jr., Glenville run supreme at Adidas final
Monday, June 21, 2004

Glenville's boys track team wrapped up its outdoor season with another dominant performance in the Adidas Outdoor Championships in Raleigh, N.C., on Friday and Saturday.

The Tarblooders "A" team recorded two firsts and a second in sprint relays. The "B" team had a third and fourth.

Ted Ginn Jr. was the only boys athlete to place first in three events. He won the 110-meter hurdles in 13.46 and ran on the first-place 4x100 and 4x200 relays. Ginn also ran on the runner-up 4x400 relay.

Glenville won its second consecutive Division I state championship earlier this month with an all-division record 80 points. It was the second consecutive season the Tarblooders would have won the national high school championship had team scores been kept.

"It was a real show," Glenville coach Ted Ginn Sr. said. "You kind of hate to see the seniors go. I'm proud of all of them."

Ginn Jr. was joined by Freddie Lenix, Stephon Fuqua and Daven Jones on the 4x100 relay team that won in a time of 40.51. Lenix, Fuqua and Jamario O'Neal ran with Ginn on the 4x200 relay that ran a 1:23.78 the best high school time in the nation this season.

Ginn, Cloud, O'Neal and Fuqua ran 3:13.44 on the runner-up 4x400 relay.

Glenville's B team of Myron Howard, Andre Evans, Raymond Small and O'Neal clocked a 41.28 in the 4x100 relay. Cloud, Small, Jones and Evans ran 1:26.07 in the 4x200.

In the girls meet, Collinwood had a second-, a seventh-, and two ninth-place finishes in relays. Jenice Williams, Shantell Lewis, Sabrina Parr and Joi Smith ran 1:46.55 on the runner-up 800-meter sprint medley relay. Parr, Regina Adams, Smith and Brandy Taylor ran 3:52.50 to finish seventh in the 4x400 relay. The Railroaders finished ninth in the 4x100 and 4x200 relays.

Beaumont's Maggie Infeld finished fifth in the 1,600 meters in 4:47.04. Infeld ran with Brittney Cofield, Barb Roberson and Ruby Pickens on the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay team that finished third in 4:01.63.

Hawken's Brook Turner finished fifth in the 400 meters in 54.32, Bay's Kelley Moore was fourth in the discus with a throw of 143-0 and Rhodes' Francine Jennings was eighth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:02.21.

Glenville coach calls rumor crazy'
Tuesday, November 23, 2004

Plain Dealer Reporter
At first, Glenville High School football coach Ted Ginn Sr. laughed when he was asked if there is any truth to the rumor floating around town.

Then he paused and said, "Who's saying that stuff?"

The rumor being that Ginn Sr. was flown by a helicopter, provided by Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel, to Saturday afternoon's OSU-Michigan football game in Columbus to watch his son, Ted Ginn Jr., play. The rumor continued by saying Ginn Sr. then was flown back to Cleveland in time for the Tarblooders' Division I, Region 1 title game against St. Ignatius that night.

An ABC announcer said he thought he saw Ginn Sr. at Ohio Stadium during the broadcast.

"That's crazy," Ginn Sr. said. "I was in my hotel room, with my team, watching the game on television.

"We had our pregame meal at 2:30 that afternoon. After the OSU-Michigan game ended, the team boarded the bus and we headed for Lakewood Stadium."

When reporters arrived at Lakewood Stadium at 5:15, Ginn Sr. was already there.

Ginn Jr. and former Tarblooder Curtis Terry made the trip to Lakewood from Columbus after the Buckeyes' game, with Ginn Jr. driving the car. Ginn Jr. and Terry, a freshman player at OSU, arrived in the fourth quarter to watch the end of Glenville's 22-14 victory.

Tressel did not hear about the rumor until a phone call late Monday morning.

"I promise you, I don't own a helicopter," Tressel said. "And I have no access to one either."

Ginn Jr. and Terry left early Sunday morning for the ride back to Columbus.

"How's this kind of stuff get started?" Ginn Sr. said. "It's absolutely crazy."

Does the media have anything better to write about?? :(

I heard Danielson say that and wondered what the heck he was talking about. I watched that part over again and Ginn Jr is talking to a michigan coach when the comment is being made. My guess is it was the coach who tried to recruit TG for michigan.

espn.com headline: Tressel-copter used to fly friends, boosters at coach's whims.

Maurice Clarett- "I was denied access to a helicopter at OSU. That might have made my trip home from the Fiesta Bowl to see my buddy's funeral easier, and they never even told me coach had a damn helicopter. I deserved a ride on that helicopter. Oh, and please, somebody draft me."

Sammy Maldanado- "When I transferred to Maryland, I had to pack my stuff in the trunk of my car and drive. He should have let me use the helicopter. They just didn't respect me."

Marco Cooper- "When I got arrested for drugs and guns, there was a helicopter flying around, shining a light on me."

Robert Smith- "You know, I heard of other guys getting helicopter rides when I was in school, but I never actually saw a helicopter. I was too busy studying my chemistry books."

John Cooper- "What's a helicopter?"
