Cleveland Browns (2007 & prior)

If Carp and Greenway are there it will be Carp. Brings more to the field than Greenway and exactly fits the type of defensive player Phil and Romeo want.

I think it would be nice if we could trade down, get Carp with a mid/late first round pick, and also pick up another 1-3rd round pick for trading down.

Carp is fantastic, but is he worthy of a #12 pick? (take off scarlet glasses)

I completely agree with you guys that Carp is a far better player than Greenway. I just think that we have so many needs, that our 1st round draft pick better be a lights out player than can make an immediate impact. I think Carp can be gotten late first/early second round...and I would LOVE for him to be a Brown.

For some reason Carp isnt getting middle 1st round talk, everyone has him in the late 1st to early 2nd. Can you guys imagine how many tackles he wouldve put up if Hawk wasnt at OSU???

Even though Greenway had a horrible combine, Savage still talks very highly of him, and he is also good friends with Kirk Ferentz...

Gotta agree with ya there...give me Carp's motor and skills...any day!

Carpenters also going to put up more than 16 reps on the bench press. Greenway just does not look like a top-15 NFL prospect.

Id rather have Lawson than Greenway.

EDIT: Physically he just looked soft, he didnt have anywhere near the muscle mass as the other linebackers at the combine.

Ultimately, it is going to come down to the numeric values Savage puts on the choice, the needs and who is available at the time. I would love to see him drop a few spots, still get the player he needs and wants and grab another draft choice anywhere later in the draft. All I know is that I feel much more secure with PS at the helm than Butchie of Clark.

My ideal scenario would be to drop back to maybe the 22 or 23 pick, then take Carpenter...

Either that or stay at #12, and take Ngata is he is available, and if hes gone than either Bunkley or Lawson.

Savage is on a roll. Still no confirmation on Edwards yet. If Ngata falls to #12 you take him and groom him to take over for Washington in a couple years. It's a strong draft for LB, someone like Hodge might be available in the 2nd round. Kudla in the 3rd. Greenway is garbage in the 3-4.
