It seems to me that setting up a fundraiser for a problem that practically everyone in the entire world is already keenly aware of is rife for shenanigans and a fairly meaningless gesture either way.

COVID-19 is about to get several billion dollars from the feds, I don’t think a few thousand that your girlfriend is probably skimming off the top of, going towards who-knows-what, is really going to make a dent.

Use your celebrity to help the family down the street who no one has ever heard of, please. And also, maybe just do a TikTok and share a link instead of setting up the fundraiser in your name?

I like shitting on the NCAA as much as anyone, but the way Trevor Lawrence went about this is really unintelligent at the very least and outright shady at worst.

Edit: they said the money was going to go to Meals on Wheels and No Kid Hungry. Both organizations independently raise funds constantly. Again, make a TikTok. Share a link to a fundraising page for the organization itself. Make an ask.

I reiterate that setting up a personal gofundme is stupid and/or shady even though they identified where they planned to send the money.
