Circuit City in Trouble

Taosman

Your Cousin In New Mexxico
Tis the season for big electronics retailers, but stay away from Circuit City as they are in deep financial trouble and may not honor something you order. If you buy something in store you could be OK.
I wouldn't trust them.
Buyer be ware!
Have a great shopping season BPers!

So Circuit City is hurting for money, so they'll steal your money paid for by credit card and risk endless legal battles?

Um, ok... if you say so.

Um, not exactly. But, you could find yourself with a very long wait for something ordered as their suppliers are refusing to deliver goods.
I'm just sayin'....................

If they fail to deliver can I sue them for pain and suffering?

I mean, I really need a 60-inch HD set with Home Theater sound and a Blu-Ray player this Christmas.

Or next, if the case takes that long.

BBuy absolutely smoked the market, thanks in large part to their HD Advantage program which drew in huge numbers for HDTV sales... thanks to super low priced TVs when packaged with overpriced accessories and installations. Many have tried to exploit this by returning all of the items separately. BBuy has caught on and tried to curb this, but primarily just jacked up the pre discount prices and made a killing on all those sales not done by deviants.

Interesting. I guess I haven't been in many CC threads on slickdeals lately, but I did not see mention of this.

I did see mention of their ad listing 360/PS3 games (madden & ncaa) for $22.49.

They also have bee

Best Buy's practices come off as very sleazy to me. Their service plans are a complete rip-off (absolute gold mine if you're Best Buy). You buy a $1,200 TV, pay an extra $200 for a service plan that "guarantees" 3 more years of protection, which when you think about it, has probably a 5% chance you might actually need to use the service plan because the product is almost 95% going to be built properly. And if it's a defect, you'll notice it in the first 90 days when your manufacturers warranty is still in tact. Then, in the remote chance you have to use your service plan, Best Buy will do everything in their power to void it by trying to prove that you are somehow responsible for the damage you did to your product. $200 of pure profit for BB. I hear they treat their employees like crap, from friends who have worked there.

I don't know how it is nowadays as I haven't bought anything of consequence there in maybe 5 years. Only way to go to get the best deals IMO is online. Newegg.com - saved $500 on a 47" plasma TV. Never once had to set foot in a Best Buy and deal with their shitty service.

Or you can pricematch BBuy's $600 off deal (for spending $1100 on accessories) at Sears. Sales rep said he'd match a receipt (just got a copy from someone), which only shows discount on TV. If so we'll be the proud owner of a 50" 720p Samsung 5054 plasma for $630 :banger: (plus $40 off at Giant Eagle... free tank of gas thanks to gift cards & gas rewards). So 500-some to join the HD world.

I worked at CC for about a year as a side job. Any company that makes a practice of firing their top salaried salesmen because they cant afford to pay them leaving stores staffed by new inadequately trained employees is compounding their troubles. The senior management has been fleeing for years knowing the end is coming.
