Cincy ROSE COLORED GLASSES PREDICTION

it will be close, if we get a lead we will sit on it, the only way we blow them out is if our o line is blowing them out of the water and we rack up the rushing yards (a la early 02)
otis, I agree if the running game is improved these close games we have seen in the past will not be so close, Tressel sat on the ball the last two years because that strategy gave us the best chance to win, I believe the Offense will be improved and the scores will not be so close.

Here is an interesting article I found....

<!---###STORY###---><!---##CCI#[Text Tag=body Group=All]--->The University of Cincinnati football team is beginning to zero in on Ohio State.

On Wednesday, their last day of summer camp at the Higher Ground Retreat and Conference Center in West Harrison, Ind., the Bearcats started to prepare in earnest for their Sept. 4 season-opening matchup with the Buckeyes in Columbus.

"This was the first day we worked on Ohio State," UC coach Mark Dantonio said. "This was the first day we actually had scout teams."

No one is more eager for the rematch of 2002's 23-19 Ohio State victory at Paul Brown Stadium than UC wide receiver George Murray, whose dropped pass in the end zone in the closing minute helped the Buckeyes fend off their first loss to an Ohio team in 81 years.

"We have a little countdown clock in our locker room that tells us how many days it is before we play them," Murray said. "You think about how close it really is until the season starts. I know I'm itching for it. We just can't wait to go up there and play."

In a sense, every time the Bearcats' offense works against the defense, it's preparing for Ohio State, because the Buckeyes are still using the same basic defense that Dantonio employed while he was the defensive coordinator at OSU for the past three years.

"I think it's got to be an advantage," Dantonio said. "I don't know how much. I'm not going to make a tackle or catch a ball or run with the ball. I'm sure some things have changed.

"We know their personnel as coaches. We have a general idea what they're doing schematically, but it doesn't mean we'll be able to stop their execution. I'm sure they'll be ready to play."

The Bearcats practiced Wednesday morning, then boarded buses for the return trip to the UC campus, their first camp under their new coach behind them. In some respects it was different from what they had experienced under previous head coach Rick Minter.

For one thing, the players were allowed to use cell phones and bring televisions with them to camp.

"It's not like it's been in the past," Murray said. "Everything isn't just football so that you start to hate football. We were able to enjoy ourselves a little bit. But when it was time to practice, we practiced."

Defensive end Andre Frazier said it was more of an adult atmosphere.

"You have to know yourself," Frazier said. "You have to check yourself. The coaches don't check you as much. You don't want to talk on the phone all day and all night, because it'll show up in practice. It gave us a little more responsibility."

The Bearcats managed to complete their 10-day camp without a major injury. Dantonio also believes they solidified the kicking game and uncovered a few freshmen who might be able to help right away, such as running backs Bradley Glatthaar and Butler Benton, as well as wide receivers Earnest Jackson and Carlos Simpson.

The players, who will be allowed to critique the camp, also made a trip to Kings Island and conducted a team ping-pong tournament.

"You have to let them escape from football," Dantonio said, "have some fun, play some cards, play ping-pong. Let it be a fun experience for them, something that they'll remember, rather than have it be a boot camp. You don't have to beat them down to be good. We'll see how it all works out."

GLATTHAAR INJURED: Glatthaar was wearing a soft cast on his left ankle Wednesday after incurring a high ankle sprain during practice this week.

Dantonio said the injury wasn't serious. Glatthaar should be able to practice by Saturday.

Gotta Disagree with the Takin It Easy on Dantonio thing.

There are team goals FOR THE SEASON

You don't let the other team score to be nice and play pretty.

Who here would let them score just to say it was close. If you said yes you will not be my assistant coach.

If I were Dantonio, would I expect Tress to take it easy on me ... hell no.

So we pull the starters early, and we don't throw the bomb every other play.
But we play hard and we play the whole game, or we are not a major program.

Lets look at another Scarlett Colored Scenerio .....

Bucks score first drive ....
Cincy three and out ....
Bucks score .....
Cincy three and out...
Bucks score .....

21 ZIP inthe first quarter .....
so we give them a break with three quarters left .....
NO WAY

This D will have goals .... and I want to see them keep them .....

Let me think .... NC game .... Miami had almost ZERO rushing yards the first half .... You remember them, the team that had speed that noone could hang with ....

And another thing .... Dantonio knows JTs tendancies and personel ....
well, JT knows Dantonio's tendancies, and Dantonio doesn't yet know his own personell as well as he knows ours .... and he doesn't know our new coaches and players .... yada yada yada .....

If we squeek tis one out, expect a long year .....
If we kill 'em ... look for another 1998 type year.

Yea, I got them Rose colored glasses on ....
WE got the Horses
We got a spare set of horses
We got the coach
and we got a home opener ....
time to rise and shine ..... the Bucks Start Here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TI: I don't think Tressel will take it easy on Dantonio, but he won't run up the score if we're already up comfortably. For example, if we take your "OSU leads 21-0 after the first quarter" scenario, I'd look for us to keep the pressure on and score at will. If it were 21-0 at the start of the fourth, you can bet we'll run nearly every down, regardless of results, to run the clock down. Now, if we should end up leading something like 38-0 in the middle of the second quarter (ala Kent State in 2002), then you can bet that in that type situation the bench will be emptied.

UC has a offense, at least in years past, that you can't take it easy on. As much as I hate the guy, Gino is known from bringing his team back from big defecits in the 4th quarter. They may not always win those games but they get back in them. Dantonio and Gino for that matter have stated publically that they're going to run the ball more this year instead of throwing it all over the field but if they find themselves in a hole that may be the only way out. I wouldn't feel comfortable with a 21 point lead going into the 4th. Tressel needs to put points on the board and hopefully, Coach Snyder stays true to his word and doesn't jump into the prevent.

Another thing, who have we EVER run up the score on? San Jose State? Kent State? That wasn't running up the score. As Mili stated, the bench emptied early but there wasn't any comparrison in talent. Those were two of the worst teams in 1A. I hope the offense this year is capable of running up the score on someone. I think they will be. Afterall, they can't be much worse than last year.

I agree that this game will not be close, but coxew, UC does not have an offense. Their OL sucks, with only one proven player, they have horrible WR's, an injury-plagued RB, virtually no tight end, and their starting FB hasn't seen the field outside of special teams since high school. Their QB is good, but how good? His first two years he looked spectacular, but last year his numbers were down. I think he is good, I think he could play on Sundays...but he has to have time to throw, and he has to have talent to throw to...I just don't see this game being very close.

Just an observation but not to be arguementative, Its my opinion that alot of OSU fans are caught up in the margin of victory when all Coach T does is put us in the best possible position to win every ball game.

With Coach Cooper we blew out alot of teams, but fell apart during the big ones...which one is better?

Go bucks!
