High School Cincinnati St. Xavier Bombers

What a game. Huge play to end it. Anyone with ONN should watch it...you'll get to see a lot of Tyler Moeller. Hell of a player. Darius Ashley was big for St. X as well..by far the best football game I've ever attended. Yes, better than the Bengals beating the undefeated Chiefs in Cincy a couple years back and better than some of OSU's poundings of scUM.

Congrats to X. Ashley is one hell of a running back. He's something special and will be enjoyable to watch in the weeks and years to come. (as long as he's not playing Colerain. )

Good luck in your chase for the title.

I hear that 35,000 people attended this game. That's absolutely ridiculous. What a giant of a matchup for an early playoff round.

I would say 35,000 is an under estimate in my opinion. The lower bowl of PBS was filled and the 2nd deck had to be opened...the walk up crowd was so large that at kickoff there were several thousand fans waiting in TWO lines( yep...the only had two ticket windows open) that the PBS staff, Cincy police and the OHSAA decided for the safety of the fans to just open the gates and let them all in.

is the game in Oxford? WXIX in Cincinnat reported the game will be at Middletown? I hope it gets moved to Oxford...Yeager is a nice place to watch a high school game. As good as the Colerain/X game was last night, the Wayne/Centerville game was just as amazing...it was an unbelievable comeback for the Warriors...Early, if given time, can make any throw on the field...But I don't see them beating X...X is as special this year as Colerain was last year.

The game has been announced for Middletown as H&G said, unfortunately you may have trouble getting tickets if that's the case BuckeyeTillIDie. Middletown supposedly only holds 10,000, which is ridiculous for a game of this size. I guarantee X will bring 10,000+, and it could very possibly be closer to 15k than 10k. Wayne fans have said they'll bring no less than 5,000. I just don't see the logic behind putting the R4 final at a site that restricts how many can see the game when there are other venues available that would accomodate the expected crowd.

St. X regional final at Middletown

St. Xavier, Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, Lemon-Monroe and Springboro will hit the road for regional final football games this weekend.

St. Xavier (12-0), The Enquirer's and the state's top-ranked Division I team, will face Huber Heights Wayne (11-1) at Middletown's Barnitz Stadium at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The Bombers are coming off a 12-9 overtime victory over Colerain in which Darius Ashley caught the winning touchdown pass before a reported 30,000-plus at Paul Brown Stadium Saturday night. Wayne, the region's second seed, rallied to beat Centerville 29-28 in the first game at Paul Brown.

Wayne defeated Moeller 28-21 in the first round. St. Xavier defeated Moeller 31-7 in the regular season.

The game has been moved to 12:30 pm at Cincinnati Nippert Stadium on Saturday.... this from jjhuddle.com

This is true, and will turn into a huge homefield advantage for St. X. There will be plenty of Warriors, but I assume the X fans will outnumber them 3:1.

I also assume the turf at Nippert is much better than when I last played there (damn...about 18 years ago). That was the worst surface I have ever played on in my life. An injury waiting to happen. I would have rather played on green concrete.

Is it grass or field turf now? As you can tell, it's been a while. I know they renovated a few years back. Just wondering.

Nippert now has field turf. Wayne's fans seem to think this will be an advantage to them and think they have the faster team, but X's defense is pretty damn athletic and quick. I honestly don't see this as being a huge advantage for either team. Apparently a lot of Wayne fans might not make the trip now, as it conflicts with The Game.
