my dads a huge cinci fan....so i pull for them (though my fav team is the white sox). i hate watching them implode. i love players like griffey, casey, dunn, jimenez, pena. but they have too many larsons and lopez's.

my dad has figured out that they do this every year...surprising everybody and then tanking right before the allstar break.

Poor Cincy fans....

Every year its the same deal....start out good and go down the crapper, they keep trading away their best talent for prospects who dont pan out, I hope this year they just keep the core players together and work on developing those young players like Cleveland has been doing for two years now and see what the results are.

I agree...

They keep bringing up minor leaguers that keep losing games for them, i.e. Phil Norton. Come on! They need to fire the trainers because the players are always getting hurt. Do these guys just sit in the dugout between innings and do nothing. Get up and move around. Stay warm! Stop smoking the peace pipe and get out there and play some ball.

They need at least two quality starting pitchers. They are too cheap to go get them though! You have to spend some money to make a winning team. As long as they are a bunch of tightwades they will never win! I love my team but when is not enough money too wrong for the paying fans that want to see a winning team in that new ballpark!

Hate seeing the Red's lose too. I've always been a big fan. 35 years or so now. I hope they don't sell off everything too. In some ways, they're getting closer. Pitching is a major problem though. It needs to improve and soon.

What is worse? Being a Reds fan or a Brewers/Pirates fan? I am a Brewers fan and I would suggest - even though I love them to death - being a brewers fan is worse, by far.

We haven't had a winning season in TWELVE YEARS!?!?!?!!! WTF.

We have the lowest payroll in baseball( this year) and nearly lowest every year.

We hardly ever have had "star" players - and the ones we have had are no longer with the team.

oh yeah - and twelve freakin years of losing. suck suck suck.

at least you guys won a world series (or two?) in the previous decade. I still remember watching those reds teams handle the "powerful" oakland team. wow. i think it was a sweep no? like 1990 or something. not a reds fan now, but actually growing up ( I was born in '70) I was a brewers fan and a partial reds fan. I loved George Foster he was my favorite red. Also a big davey concepcion fan.

I don't think either of these teams are going to win a world series any time soon.

I still say twelve straight years of losing takes first prize as the grandest of losers. Yes folks, ourselves and the pirates fans are the ultimate losers. Thank you, thank you very much baseball - for no salary cap. Damn crappy union just destroyed the game.

The Brewers are much better this year, though. At least there are some signs of life that don't seem to be fading. You're right, they're not the Cardinals yet, but at least progress actually looks like progress. The problem with the Reds is that they get the hopes up by doing well for like the first 80 games, then get flushed down the crapper again with crappy pitching down the stretch and usually at least on major hitter, if not 2 or 3, either slumping or getting hurt. I think it is worse to consistently think thigs are getting better, and then have them be crappy all over again.

That said, it sucks to be a Pirates fan, but it would be even worse to be an Expos fan, being utilized as a farm club...if they had any.

i cant stand people who dogg jr. is it his fault he gets hurt? should he try a little less harder to catch that deep fly ball? maybe he shouldnt dive....just let it bounce in front of him. then you would love him right? maybe he shouldnt try to score from second on a weak blooper. im sure you would get up and applaud him for stopping at third when you need 1 run in the 9th.

I would say - for this moment right now - it would probably suck to be an expos fan ... true enough. Although, they are about to move to the Northern Virginia/ D.C. area and should thrive there. Also, it will take away from the Orioles and that is a good thing for me....hate 'em.

The Brewers are showing some signs of life, plus their minor league system was rated #1 in baseball ( though they have recently run into some injuries down there). There is hope. There is a glimmer of hope. There is a faint light at the end of the tunnel.

Oh yeah and we just traded for Russell Branyan (sp?). That is how bad our offense is. When you trade for a guy who can only hit HR's and K's way too often and hits .220 and plays bad defense(from what I've heard) well, our offense is el-stinko right now. It says a lot about your offensive prowess when you are hoping for "lightning in a bottle" again.

Why don't they invest in some quality pitchers instead of quantity. Damn, I get so feed up with these small market teams. Spend money to make money! Get great players = winning ballgames = packing seats = winning WS or playoffs = more money in your greedy ass pockets! Am I wrong on this? I'd like to see one year where the Reds, Brewers, Pirates, San Diego, Minnesota, Cleveland and all the other small market teams are in contintion instead of seeing New York Spankies in it every year because they can pay 200 million to buy their team! Stupid!

If Bud would sell the team they will turn around. It's hard to follow the Brewers even here in Wisconsin because nobody cares about them. Miller park is a joke, they spent all that money and the roof still leaks. I live in Appleton (for two more weeks) and this is where the Wisconsin Timberrattlers play which is Class A for Seattle. They have a bigger following than the Brewers do. I like the Brew Crew and hope they can develop some of their talent and start winning.

Nation I wasn't dogging Junior at all (if that was directed at me). I love the guy as a player and always have. My point was just the combination of horrible pitching down the stretch, Dunn usually hitting about .150 the last couple of months and bad luck with injuries. Wait, I see the post you were referring to now...but that's to clarify my position.

Blitz: I agree completely, but to hell with even needing to sign anyone new, how about if the small market clubs just started by HOLDING THE FRICK ON to the good players they have, instead of all participating in the great "rent-a-player" bullshit we have every season. If you have a pitcher that wins 15 games: KEEP HIM. I AM BEGGING YOU.

BSH: I agree having to sign Branyon is absolutely horrible, but there are great signs of life in the pitching staff, Sheets looks like an ace, Kolb is a stud closer, and you can always pick up a hitter or 2 in the coming seasons. I am a Brewer fan too since I live in northern Illinois (and actually always have been since the stormin' Gorman days), and I am happy by what I see for the first time in, I don't know, forever it seems like.
