Cincinnati Reds (2026 Season Thread)

Votto was clearly the better hitter

Elly plays a premium defensive position and steals bases on top of being a an above league average hitter

Votto WAR per game=.0268
Elly War per game= .0226

Votto is 18.6% more valuable by that simple math.

"Better" is subjective. The missing data from that comp is age.

Votto's first three years he was 23,24,25
Elly was 21,22,23

Both are great, the shit Elly takes from this fanbase is amazing.

He’s going to strike out 200 times and his OBP will probably be sub-.300. I’ll live with that if he hits 45 homers again.

Too bad he’s going to get eaten by a pack rabid possums before the season even starts.

Semantics but I file "rabid opossum attack" under "bizarre gardening accident".

Dead is dead though.

So, assuming he lives for a moment, where do you play him?

You've got Hayes at 3B who is all glove, no hit. So he basically has to play 3B everyday.

You have Steer at 1B who is all glove, average hit but only all glove at 1B, put him out in LF and he's average glove/average hit.

Sal Stewart is a 1B by birth, no way his 200+ Lbs of chewed bubblegum ass is going out in LF so He's got to be the DH with Steer at 1B for your best defensive alignment.

The LF is a laughable pile of limp dicked, puss nutted, banjo hitting queens that I wish I could forget existed.

Singer is a good pitcher, with a big (by Reds standards) contract and is a FA at the end of this year.

At some point you have to take the risk of a little less pitching and get a bat.
