I don't mind the flyer on Bleday. I've always kindof liked him although that is mainly because/c I remember watching him at Vandy where he was awesome. Had a pretty good in '24, don't know what happened last year.
Between Bleday and Dane Myers I guess you can never have enough 4th outfielder/AAAA/9 hole hitter types? It's just depressing. It's like a scratch off lottery tickets that you know is only worth a few bucks even if it hits.
This is the recent quote from Krall that really just hurts my soul:
Do you see Gavin Lux moving around like he did last season?
Yeah. Being able to make moves like this allows Lux to be more of a utility infielder versus a utility outfielder.
They kept Gavin Lux is my first problem. That he will coast ~$5MM is my second. Last, but not least I think, seeing the head guy consider Gavin Lux a "utility infielder" just insults my intelligence. Anyone with a set of eyes can see he should never be wearing a mitt on his hand at any position except maybe slow pitch softball. Anyone with access to the internet can see data that supports what their eyes are telling them.
BUT our fucking brain trust just blows right past all of that and considers him a utility player.
They need to go look up "utility" in the dictionary. It means of some use, or purpose. It does not mean worthless at many things.
"Multiple" is the word you are looking for Nick. Multiple.
Used in a sentence; "Gavin Lux can (theoretically) play multiple defensive positions. Gavin Lux provides no utility at any of them."....
that's because he fucking sucks. He is a goddamn platoon DH with no power. He can't even be an everyday DH. He looks like he has some value because he does have one base skills (against RH pitching only) and the rest of the sorry ass, fucktard, cum guzzling queens you have created a lineup out of posses ZERO on base skills.
So let's go get two more punch and judy motherfuckers to fit in the back seat of the clown car because, hey, we've got room for two more midgets back there.
This really isn't the same old level of frustration with the Reds. This is entering a new era of hopelessness. The business rules of MLB require small market teams to have a significant front office edge to be competitive.
I'll be kind and just say I don't really see an edge in our front office.
