It is, but even winning tonight (which I’m not counting on) doesn’t clinch anything. The end of the 99 season just needed the Reds to win 2 of 3 in MIL to clinch the wildcard berth. Instead they lost 2 of 3, ended up tied with the Mets, and then got shutout on 2 hits by Al Leiter in a one game playoff with the Mets.

The parallels are striking.
