Steer had 2 balls dropped (ha) in that at bat. First, a foul ball where the left fielder over-jumped and it bounced off the palm of his glove. Second, a nearly stolen home run, where the center fielder also over-jumped and it went off his glove for what turned out to be a 2-run triple. On the 11th pitch of the at-bat. Don't think I've ever seen 2 dropped balls (ha) on the same at bat before.

The first one was a drop. The second one was an unbelievable play to get a glove on a HR and keep it in the park.

That should move Martinez to the pen (or use both guys as swing man/same diff) and then (hopefully) Burns to pen when Greene comes back.

So from where I sit they "added: a bat by putting Marte in RF and "added" two bullpen arms by getting Littel and making the Martinez/Burns moves.

Now go get one more bat, preferably Kwan and put Austin Hays at DH, or go get a DH and leave Hays in LF.

Get rid of one of the Fraley/Benson/Lux trio and I think they've actually improved the club quite a bit. If they don't get another bat then I'm a lot less into what they have done so far although I don't hate having K Hayes for the next few years.

Added Miguel Andujar. Don’t hate any of it.

Now you have, possibly, one good player in LF with a Fraley Andujar platoon. Better at DH with Hays and better in RF with Marte.

Bullpen is better and the rotation is already a strength and getting Greene back.

If nothing else these moves pushed Joe and Lux/Espinal off the roster.

Don’t hate any of it. Wish they’d have gotten Kwan but maybe in the offseason. Padres went nuts. Not sure we are catching them no matter what they did today.
