Watching the Farm to the Show podcast on Bally right now with Dickerson, LeCure, and Janish, and Sam seems pretty confident that with Greene and Lodolo coming back, Abbott will get a “phantom DL stint” as part of the roster moves, since he’s already six innings over what he’s ever pitched in his life.

Workload on all the rookies down the stretch will be key, because the FO doesn’t want to mortgage the future on a run right now.

Next year, I want to see them have 3 vet's on the bench that can just be back ups and provide some PH thunder.

I like Stuart Fairchild as a defensive OF but I do not like seeing him and fucking Ramos as our two hitters with the game on the line.

Bench, bullpen and maybe a starter for depth/insurance but I am not so sure about that last one.

Bell sucks at roster management but even Sparky couldn't manufacture hits with that bench. They need to stop oohing and aahing over Ramos' one long homerun in the minors and look at his .143 BA at Home this year. Leave him on the bench until you need him to do something when someone else is hurt or done in. Benson hasn't burned it up this year but I take him every time against that righty at the end of the game yesterday over Ramos. In a perfect world, we'd have had India and/or Fraley available right there last night but still, you are correct we need more proven guys behind the rookies for their vet presence. Hell, as much as I dislike Newman for this roster I'd have killed to have him yesterday instead of Ramos.

Marte makes the entire infield, other than catcher, a rookie going forward and Steer in LF is also. Benson was on his debut as well so what, 7 out of 9 on the field are going to be rookies if Abbott or Williamson are on the mound? Never even heard of anything like that before and yet, this team is still on the cusp of the freaking playoffs. Going to be interesting thats for damn sure.

3 HR's off the top of the wall thru less than 4 innings. Never seen that one before. Greene is definitely rusty with the location and his velocity is getting matched on the way back out!

Better get on a winning streak this week or this season is toast.

Why don’t guys play like that when they are with the Reds? That fat piece of shit Moustakas couldn’t be bothered to push away from the buffet in Cincy then acts like a pissy bitch when he plays against us.

That rookie wall seems to have some spikes on it man. Starting 6 rookies tonight and what, 2 second year guys? There might have been a younger team at some point in history but damned if I know what it was.

I think when you add in all the pitchers we have over half the 26 man roster being rookies or 2nd year players.

I’ve never seen anything like it in my baseball watching life.


EDIT

I was way off. With the current injuries we have 7 of the 26 guys on the roster with 2 or more years of MLB service time according to FG roster pages.

4 of the 7 are in the bullpen.
