Cincinnati Reds 2019 season (Black Hole)

Dumb question from someone not following the club closely...why Votto second? So it’s one on and one out instead of one on and two out when they walk him?

With his power dropping but OBP staying up, I love the move now that there are legit MLB batting behind him. If can be at .400 OBP in the 2 hole with Puig/Suarez/Gennett coming up, that's a perfect fit for him.

making a confession...dont hate me buuuut.

Ive grown to hate openning day in this city.
for the same reasons I hate St. Patrick’s Day. a bunch of young dicks showing up in mass with the only intent of getting as absolutely drunk as they can without any care in the world about baseball. its a ‘hip(ster) day’ to be seen in public in a walmart Reds jersey and a douchey IPA in your hand. I fucking hate it. wont see any of those douchecanoes at another Reds game the rest of the year but will be at ever party at Sawyer Point this summer.

end of confession.

Reds Claim Jose Lopez, Designate Brandon Finnegan

By Jeff Todd | March 28, 2019 at 1:09pm CDT

The Reds have claimed righty Jose Lopez off waivers from the Giants, per a club announcement. To open a roster spot, lefty Brandon Finnegan was designated for assignment.

Lopez had been claimed from Cincinnati in mid-February. Given a chance to reconsider their decision after watching both players this spring, the Reds decided they’d rather have him back at the expense of Finnegan. While he didn’t impress in camp, Lopez remains an interesting hurler with a strong pedigree.

Finnegan’s career has gone off the rails a bit after beginning with real promise. He has dealt with injury issues and produced brutal results last year. The former first-rounder, who cracked the majors in his first professional season, was tagged for 11 earned runs in five innings this spring.

so...Pirates score 4 in the first and then its all downhill from there?
I see you have @Jaxbuck 's spring optimism. More likely it'll be Pirates score 14 in the first, Catillo's tears every tendon in his arm on the first pitch of the game (which somehow makes it over the plate and is drilled right back at him, breaking both his testicles in half), Votto breaks both his legs and severs Puig's jugular as both collide going after a foul ball that neither of them catch, and it's downhill from there.
