Cincinnati Bengals (Same Ole Bengals)

Tyler Boyd Says Steelers 'Gave Up' During 24-10 Loss to Bengals

The Bengals never trailed in Sunday's 24-10 win over the Steelers. They were in control of the game from start to finish.

Their confidence might be at an all-time high going into Thursday's game against Jacksonville. Not only did the Bengals beat one of their rivals, they left no doubt about who the superior team was on Sunday.

Tyler Boyd, a Pittsburgh native, had an interesting observation about the way the game against the Steelers ended.

"The last plays for them, they gave up. You could see it. They had three drops in a row and for a team to see that is giving us more power," Boyd said. "For a team to just lay down like that before the game is over.

"They portrayed it to the whole nation on TV with what they were about and how they gave up, so we just gotta take advantage."

God help me, I’m leaning Bengals for my survivor pick.

At home, primetime. Lawrence/Urban on first short week in the NFL.

Any matchup problems I should know? (Besides “bungling”)

Not really other than bungling. This should be a comfortable win at home if things go the way they should, though we tend to play down to our competition. Both sides of the ball are relatively healthy for once and the defense looks very good so far.

dicey call. As nice as the win was on Sunday, the Steelers suck and Watt did not play. Maybe a little fool’s gold there.
But Jacksonville also sucks. I’m not sure if I would have the hubris to take them but if it saves a better team for later in the year…

Wait ... a Cincinnati Bengal football player is calling out the Pittsburgh Steelers for "quitting"??
Two straight first round picks looking good?
Free agent acquisitions at areas of need?

When did we enter the Bizarro world?
Finally, a world where the Bengals can succeed!
Who Dey indeed.

Mike Tomlin responds to Tyler Boyd saying Steelers players quit

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd thinks Pittsburgh Steelers players gave up when the two teams met on Sunday. That would reflect poorly on Mike Tomlin if true, but the Steelers coach doesn’t sound all that concerned.

Boyd told reporters on Monday that Steelers players “gave up” toward the end of Cincinnati’s 24-10 win. He said that was evident when their wide receivers committed several drops. Boyd also said the Steelers showed everybody “what they were about” and that the Bengals would never pack it in like that.

Tomlin was asked about the comments on Tuesday. He said Boyd’s opinion is irrelevant to him.

“I don’t care about Tyler Boyd’s opinion on what transpired at any point of that game,” Tomlin said, via Mark Kaboly of The Athletic. “I tip my cap to that team and that organization for their performance and their win. He’s entitled to his opinion but I don’t have to respond to it.”

In a sense, Tomlin did respond to it by saying he doesn’t care about Boyd’s opinion. Though, Tomlin did not say whether he felt his players mailed it in.

Just sayin': If Mike Tomlin actually believes that "his players mailed it in", some players are going to have "hell to pay" in practices this week.

Good news - Waynes will finally play after we paid him gobs of millions to not play. Bad news - Bates and Awuzie are out. Could actually be an opportunity for Lawrence, front 7 needs to get after it.

Urban played at Cincinnati, his son plays at Cincinnati, and Urban wins in Ohio over 90% of the time. Bad juju? It's 7-0 Jags, early.

I'd be surprised to see the Bengals follow up that win in Pittsburgh by bungling at home against the Jags. This is one they should win.
