Cincinnati Bengals (Same Ole Bengals)

I'll be honest, I haven't seen much to complain about in the NFL officiating this season, or at least in the postseason. Penalties get missed, corny flags get thrown every game. But this was some shady shit. They were letting damn near everything slide right up until LA needed to win. Terrible optics.

Agree. I thought the playoffs were well-played and officiated until that last drive for the Rams. The issue is, everyone will forget the earlier parts an will always remember that B.S. at the end. That will be the legacy of this SuperBowl and playoffs.

Bengals had 2 penalties the entire game then got flagged on 3 straight plays with the Rams in the red zone on their final possession.

I've always dismissed conspiracy theories, but that ending - with an LA team playing in Hollywood - is why those theories exist.

Everything about it smells rotten and no one outside of Ohio will care. The LA media will trumpet it as a great win by the Rams.

I'd say the last 2 were legit but the one in the middle on the LB was oh so that's how it's going to be. The roughing I was expecting and the one at the goal was just a db getting handsy as fuck in a no win situation
I'm not even saying the calls weren't legit. I'm saying you can't suddenly find the flags in your pocket when you've been letting shit slide all game long. Yes, the facemask on Higgins was a terrible miss, so I don't think you can put this all on officiating. I'm just saying it looks really bad when flags suddenly start raining down in that situation. Again, I don't care who won this game as I dislike both teams pretty equally, so the outcome means nothing to me. But, I understand Cinci fans being livid and would say the same if the roles were reversed.

Reminds me of Game 7 between Sacramento and the Lakers back in either 2002 or 03.

Guys, guys, guys.....

Yet again, as much as I love em, another Nebraska alumni screws the state of Ohio. Sorry, Zac, I gotta go in.

First off....where in the HELL was Joe Mixon on that last drive? Perine isn't your #1 back, Mixon is. Mixon gets that yard as he was running hard.
Second.....you've been double teaming Kupp all 2nd half, and you KNOW Stafford is feeding him the ball no matter what. You put Apple out on an island with the best receiver in the league right now? Bad, bad idea.
Last - you been doubling Donald all night long. The one time you decide NOT to actively double him, he gets home and makes the game winning play.

BTW - the flags in the 2nd half were make up calls for the egregious missed call on the Ramsey facemask.

The halftime show was one of the best I've ever seen, and I don't watch them at all. Prince/Bruno Mars was probably up there, but it was hard to say watching Death Row represent wasn't cool.

Except for Fitty.....50 stopped being cash currency and grew into Stocks and Bonds.

All in all, good game.

EDIT: Cincy should fine, then suspend, then cut the idiot that went out onto the field in his freaking flip flops to celebrate. What an idiot.

For real. Not even fucking close. And that’s what is so fucking frustrating. They were letting everything go that they could, including that obvious false start, and then call that PI on Wilson. I don’t doubt it was the “correct” call, but they didn’t call anything all fucking night and then call that? Fuck off.

I had the exact same gripe on here many years ago in the PIT-SEA super bowl. Yeah, the calls they made on Seattle were legit, but when you look at the calls that weren’t made on PIT, it all seems like bullshit.

Question: Holding called while play continues. Kupp catches the ball in the endzone and Apple blasts him. Gets a flag (and yeah, a flag for the same thing that Donald did to Burrow in the first half that went uncalled). 1st foul is in play, 2nd foul is a dead ball foul. So, in my days as a high school ref - you mark off the holding call first, then you mark off the dead-ball foul. Down remains the same. They called offsetting penalties. That should apply only if both calls were dead-ball, or both were committed while the ball was live, or is this another difference between NFL and high school/college rules?
