The string of ineptitude continues...Lewis has had a ridiculous amount of time to win a playoff game and it hasn't happened. We knew someone was going to try to take Zimmer. Send Lewis packing and promote Zimmer...instead, we are left with an inept head coach who just lost the two coordinators responsible for the success we've had. Great. He will stick with Dalton and sink with the ship. While that happens, I've lost interest in next season.
However, I am still interested in our draft. This is one of the seasons where I only see one big weakness and it won't be addressed (Dalton). So realistically, I guess I would want a true #2 receiver or dangerous slot guy. I think Marvin Jones is a good #2 but we need one more real receiving threat. I would love to see us add Brandin Cooks. He is a dynamic player, a perfect fit in the slot, and we have had plenty of success with receivers from Oregon State (Ocho and Houshmanzadah). Plus he can return punts and kicks (Tate sucks). I would say Marquise Lee but he will be gone by then.
As for defense, I was pleasantly surprised with the solid play from Iloka at safety. However, with Crocker likely out the door again and a year older, I want to see another safety taken. Perhaps Dion Bailey. I think we are set on the DL even if Michael Johnson leaves since we drafted Hunt last year. LB could be interesting...Mauluga actually looked good this year but I wouldn't mind seeing us use a late 2nd round pick on Vic Beasley, Shayne Skov, or Borland. I wouldn't be opposed to getting someone on the outside too...one mock I saw had Shazier in the first and I would not mind seeing that at all and then taking a WR in the 2nd.
In the 3rd, I'm thinking a power RB to supplement Gio...good value with this pick. I highly doubt Hyde is available this late but if so, awesome. I like Hill from LSU and Andre Williams from Boston college here too.
It is anyones guess after that but I would guess adding depth to the OL/DL would be in order. I really would like to see us take DeAnthony Thomas though in the 6/7 round as a return man.
