Cincinnati 34, Oregon State 3 (final)

Great win for the Bearcats. Yeah, Oregon State isn't exactly Appalachian State or anything, but they are a BCS conference team with a huge signature win last year over the Trojans. They have one the best backs in the country in Yvenson Bernard and UC shut him down completely. He was a non factor in this game.

Mauk's bionic arm looks to be holding up very well.

I wouldn't put UC at the bottom of their conference. They've been to a bowl 4 of the last 5 seasons I believe, and I think they're right there at the top of the second tier of the Big East, with a chance to beat a Louisville, WV or Rutgers on a given night.

I wouldn't put the Beavers at the bottom of the PAC-10 either. Let's not forget about Stanford, Washington State, and Arizona. Once in a while, ASU shows up, and I would put them more on par with Oregon State. Granted, one only needs six wins to go to a bowl, but they have been going in recent years.

Beavers fans having been running their yappers all off-season. This oughta' shut 'em up.

LOL!!!

Where I work, there are more Beaver fans that Duck fans. When I came out in 2005, I couldn't give a squat less how either team performed. I couldn't recall a time when the Beavers ever played in the Rose Bowl, and when I thought of the Ducks, I thought of Harrington. However, over time, I have to admit that I have found myself enamored with the Beavers for two reasons:

1) Their baseball teams the last two years have not only won the NC, but they also appeared to play with heart and a love for the game.
2) I made a vow that the team that won last year's Civil War game would be the one I would root for in the state. I realize that it was in Corvalis, but it was also the first one I ever went to. I'm sure you're aware of the outcome.

Anyway... that's where I'm at.

Aren't these the mighty OSU Beavers who defeated the Trojan dynasty last year? Actually, I should be thanking them because they saved us from another season of "is USC the best college team ever" talk. Hopefully, someone else will achieve that this year...and soon.

In any case, I don't expect to hear the same "this makes the conference look bad" talk that we heard all last week as people rushed to shift the Appalachian State embarrassment away from Llllllloyd Carr and over to the Big Ten in general. The love for USC is just too strong over in Bristol.

Must be the mythical "East Coast Bias"

Personally, it would be sweet music to my hears to read or hear about USC being taken to the legal cleaners like U of W was a few years back. The junk they talk about potentially going on behind the scenes sounds scary IF it actually ends up being true. The amount of forfeiture that USC would have to perform would be unreal.

This was a good win for the Big East. While the Big East would rather see a top tier team from the Big East and and PAC-10 go at it with the Big East team coming on top, UC and Oregon State both reside at the bottom of their respective conferences, and UC and the Big East came out on top by a lot tonight.
Oregon State beat USC last year.

No, those were the 2006 Beavers. BIG difference.

Nope, and while still premature, it's starting to look like Brian Kelly knows what he's doing down there in Cincy. I wonder if the Bearcats might get some competition for his services in a year or two, perhaps from the "champions of the west".

Oregon State isn't one of our marquee teams.
