Cincinnati 29, Hawai'i 24 (Final)

Hey, whoa! This is the #2 WAC team. OK, they have five losses and are tied with powerhouses Nevada, Louisiana Tech, and Fresno State, but they hung with Florida. OK, they hung with them at the Burger Doodle after getting waxed but...

24-20 after a field goal and pick 6. Cincy back in the game.

There may be a reason Hawaii is 7-5.

Field goal wins it for Cincinnati.

But I respect the Haka Dance and hope the Warriors can pull through. Obviously, the Bearcats didn't respect the Haka Dance or they'd be blowing Hawaii out.

and for those following along Hawaii coughs up the lead and cincy wins. Hawaii is the dirtiest team I've ever seen. Guys with no regard for the rules just out there hitting people, from behind, after plays are over, etc No wonder nobody wants to go out there and play them, just shameful :shake:

It's the island inferiority complex. Hell, one of the locals who was watching the game in our usual group was yelling near the end of the game for Hawaii players to start a fight since they were going to lose.

Trust me, the Hawaii players don't pull that shit away from home.

It's laughable that a team that casts itself as a powerhouse struggles against the #84 team in the Sagarins. I especially like the spin on ESPiN, "showed why their Big East champs" with a big fourth quarter...precisely. ESPiN thinks they will go up in the BCS I think not based on their computer rankings slipping.

Why do you think it's laughable? Milli called this in another thread in mid-week saying UC would struggle and that he fully expected Hawai'i to win. Once UC woke up, they completely dominated the fourth quarter of the football game. Hawai'i didn't have a first down after the no call on the fumble and TD.

ahhh...who cares, right? They went 4,000+ miles and won a football game. Thank goodness it wasn't the Ohio Bobcats they were playing. They might have lost.
:wink2:

Worth noting that UC would likely have become yet another victim of underestimating Hawaii had Buckeye transfer Brandon Underwood not made the pick-6 in the 4th quarter.

Did anyone else note the commentators, even in the first half, expressing surprise that UC had elected to stay on the Beach? Struck me they were signaling dissatisfaction with the Bearcats sense of seriousness.

smack talk aside...I can't help but pull for Cincy.

I was happy to see Brandon Underwood make a pick 6. I root for Terrell Byrd, a great DT who wanted an tOSU offer, but was deemed undersized, and his grades weren't good enough. DJ Woods, former OSU commit, returns kicks and plays some wideout.

I enjoy seeing those guys, not to mention all of the other Ohionans on the roster. I think a strong showing by Cincy in the Orange, would be good for Ohio High school considering how many Ohio kids rae on their roster.
