It is a distractiong issue. Not some nazis saying you can't smoke. I don't agree with it really, but people are killed so often because a driver can be distracted and some of the instances include a driver lighting up. As I said I don't agree with it, I do however understand the precaution.

Also, you may as well out law radios in cars because just about everyone changes that and it can be the biggest distraction being that you're looking down (unless you have one of those handy changers on your steering wheel :)). I talk on my cell phone while driving and I know it's a risk, but I only dial when I'm stopped. I think if this law is issued it you should be able to still be able to light up but when stopped (sounds kind of hard to enforce though...).

This is exactly why its not a distraction issue... if it were... then they would outlaw radios... which is FAR and AWAY the largest cause of accidents based on driver distraction...

Is road head legal in NJ?

People complain about fundamentalist religious nuts, but some of these anti-smoking, anti-fast food people are just as bad..........
Just as bad? Name one law rammed down your throat by "fundamentalist religious nuts". There's no comparison. The laws being passed to control your lives are not of a religious nature - they're of the socialist, nanny-state nature.

The anti-smoking "nazis" are hypocrites. They keep raising taxes on cigarettes, when the fact is they have the power to outlaw it, entirely (the black market that would arise, notwithstanding). Of course, they wouldn't get all of that wonderful money from the tobacco lobby and those beautiful tax streams would dry up.

Don't forget hot chicks walking down the side of the road. "But officer she was only wearing a bra!"

This is why I'm in favor of legalizing all kinds of drugs. Just tax the hell out of all of them and that's less money the govt. has to take from me.
