I know there is usually a lot of red tape to cut through when dealing with your insurance company but this is ridiculous.

I'm with 3yards on this one. I am fully aware of the fact there are way too many ridiculous malpractice suits and people are looking to getr rich at other people's expense all the time(see the woman suing Coors) but this is a different situation entirely. I am reasonably sure this woman wasn't hoping the surgeon left a pair of scissors inside her. A Rolex maybe, but not a pair of scissors.
