Chip Kelly (Official Thread)

"pacing themselves" means they were slowing down pace and rotating guys.

It doesn't mean, "we looked like shit offensively, on purpose."

There is now way on gods green earth they are going to go out there and voluntarily get in a dogfight with Nebraska, tsun etc instead of scoring more.
No one said that though. I specifically think those two are examples of other things at play.

As much as we want something to be a certain way as fans doesn't make it a reality though.

I agree with the game by game theories you gave but make no mistake, some people are going to just shrug off any regular season issues as "Day was just pacing them" "knew it all along" type of nonsense.

They ended up in those dogfights, or outright losses, because they laid an egg for that game, not because they were playing 3D chess.

There were quite a few head scratchers to me.....1st half vs Marshall. 1st half vs Akron. The Nebraska game was atrocious. The Penn State game was a slugfest but we had way more talent....not sure it needed to be that close. Heavy winds at Northwestern but didn't think that was a great offensive performance. Struggled a bit with Indiana (got gifted two TD's on special teams). Michigan was obviously a train-wreck.

With as much talent as OSU had, I thought the regular season was not up to the standard they should've been playing at. Thankfully, when the playoffs rolled around, they were a different team. They finally took the Lamborghini out of the garage.....
there also were a bunch of corollas in the other garage bays before 2026.

Sayin may become a Lamborghini very soon, but he was not winning a title last season. Particularly not on QB keepers.

Go watch the whole interview over on the Ryan Day thread. Little more context. Great interview.
yep. was a great interview.

and ryan indirectly harping on the ncaa’s inability to enforce rules. he mentioned it a half dozen times, without mentioning the ncaa but clearly he’s pissed that nobody is enforcing rules “in general”.

maybe watching the stallions drama drag into its third year with no punishment or penalties or justice is really starting to grate on him and now he has a soapbox that comes with being only one of three active national championship coaches.

Las Vegas agreed to pay Chip Kelly $6 million per season (three years) to pull him out of Ohio State, fresh off a national championship win with Ryan Day in 2025.

Just sayin': I wonder how much the Raiders still owe Kelly?

I get the results are all that matter reality of coaching football and he's a pro who will just get another job BUT, to be fair, you could draw up the greatest plays in the history of the fucking sport....when Geno Smith is the one who has to execute them for you, you are likely to get fired.

It's between Geno and 9 for the title of "This has got to be the worst fucking QB I think I've ever seen" this year.

Nah, it's not even close. Geno's been bad but he's still light years ahead of 9.

Brennan Carroll (Las Vegas OL Coach) should've been shown the door already. But I guess Pete isn't going to fire his son.

Even Pete isn't on firm footing at this point. There probably isn't a long line to work for Mark Davis, so it might depend on who Las Vegas could get as a replacement head coach.
