The former Ohio State offensive lineman is hoping to stay in New England next season and beyond.

Just days after enjoying the New England Patriots’ seemingly miraculous win in Super Bowl LI, offensive lineman Chase Farris — who spent the 2016 season on the Pats’ practice squad — was re-signed by the team to a futures contract.

While the details of his new deal haven’t been ironed out, this is the team’s way of keeping Farris in New England for potentially at least one or two more seasons. The lineman made $174,000 last season, and will only build on that price point should he see time on the active roster.

Farris was signed by the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent coming out of the 2016 NFL Draft, but was waived in late August. He spent the next few weeks on the Lions practice squad, before being released and signing with the Patriots on Oct. 5.

He became one of only 11 Buckeyes to win a National Championship with Ohio State and then a Super Bowl win in the NFL.

The lineman started his collegiate career on the defensive side of the ball, before transitioning to offense ahead of his junior campaign. He earned the starting role at right tackle his senior season, before making his way to the NFL.
