Charlie Weis (ex-Kansas HC, ex-Fla OC, Notre Dame legend, UnDecided Schematic Advantage)

Doesn't make any sense to me. I'm sure it's money-related, but you'd think NFL coordinators would make more than college coordinators..

Indeed.

Thinking about McDaniels again I wonder if Charlie and Haley were having differences and the fat man was going to be shown the door after the season?

It is odd to leave an NFL team to go to college and take the same position. That's not even a lateral move.

Report: Haley stripped play-calling duties from Weis

Posted by Mike Florio on January 10, 2011, 12:56 PM EST

As pointed out (I think) in the first segment of today?s edition of ProFootballTalke Live and then reiterated (I know) in the third segment, the Chiefs? horrendous offensive performance in the second half of Sunday?s 30-7 wild-card loss to the Ravens suggests that few if any meaningful halftime adjustments were made. Which suggests that the issues that prompted offensive coordinator Charlie Weis to take the same job with a college program potentially prevented Weis and coach Todd Haley from working effectively and cooperatively bubbled up during the 12-minute window between the second and third quarters.
As it turns out, those issues boiled over.
Bob Fescoe of 610 Sports in Kansas City reports that Haley stripped Weis of the play-calling duties during the second half of the game. Which means that the horrendous showing is on the shoulders not of the guy who left the team, but of the guy who?ll still be there.
The news confirms Jason Whitlock?s in-game instincts. After the Chiefs tried to run a sweep on fourth and short early in the second half, Whitlock said via Twitter: ?Todd Haley, ladies and gentlemen. He just put his stamp on the game with 4th-down call. And trust me, that was all Haley.?
It was all Haley. For all of the second half.
Moving forward, the Chiefs have a real problem. Haley is believed to be too insecure to welcome a highly competent offensive coordinator. Instead, he?ll want someone over whom he can lord ? and on whom he can place blame if things don?t go well.
At some point, it?ll become fair to ask whether G.M. Scott Pioli should be aiming one level higher than offensive coordinator when it comes to the question of filling vacant jobs.

looks like haley is the reason for the 2nd half collapse. that 4th and 1 toss play was inexcusable. haley probably just peaked as a coach.

can we start calling haley hamburglar? i mean, he did just take something from grimace.

I was attending a concert and was checking out the sports pages just before Johnny Clegg took the stage. In that quiet, I broke out laughing out loud just thinking of Gatorubet's reaction to this news. I had about 300 people staring at me. Very funny stuff.

It's a marriage made in heaven, they're getting ready to celebrate his eating habits already...

This article gives some background info on why Weis left KC for Gainesville.

In a couple of months, he's scheduled to have a left knee replacement (the right knee was replaced after he was hit on the sideline a couple of years ago).

"Two really sleazy girls come over and say, 'Coach, will you take a picture with us?' Florida's new offensive coordinator said. "I would have said no anyway, that's beside the point. I politely say, 'Hey, I'm sorry, I'm having a dinner with my wife.' I read about it the next day, how much of an a--hole I was, how I wouldn't take a picture with somebody."

:slappy:

Oh yes, this is going to go well.

Indiana builder sues Weis over copyright charge

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -- A lawsuit alleges former Notre Dame football coach Charlie Weis, his wife and a homebuilder violated copyright laws in constructing a house for developmentally disabled adults for a charity started by the couple.

Garden Homes by E.L. filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in South Bend on March 18 alleging that Charlie and Maura Weis and Rans Custom Homes violated copyright laws in building a third home at the Hannah and Friends Farm. Garden Homes, which is based in South Bend, contends it designed and built the first two homes on the 30-acre facility and obtained copyrights for those designs.

Garden Homes alleges the Weises intentionally violated copyright laws by giving Rans its design plans and directing it to make alterations to avoid the appearance of a copyright violation.

Weis, now the offensive coordinator at Florida, declined comment, school spokesman Steve McClain said. Jeffrey Stesiak, a lawyer for the Weises, also declined comment, saying he was reviewing the lawsuit.

Charlie and Maura Weis told the South Bend Tribune in a story published Tuesday that they found it "incomprehensible" that a builder would sue another builder who is building a home for people with special needs. They also said they found it peculiar that the lawsuit was filed against them personally rather than their charity.
