Chargers(-2.5) at Raiders

They play baseball there too. Are you too young to remember the dual-purpose stadium?

It's a pleasure to hear Dick Vermiel back in the booth. I learn more about football listening to his commentary than I do anywhere else. It's also nice that he's calling a game against two divisional opponents that he faced twice each last year as a coach. There's some great insight goin' on here. I hope to hear much more from him.

I'm very glad I played picked up SD's defense in BP Deuce and played this week. They might just pull my ass out of the fire. They're pitching a shutout and have seven sacks. Hopefully they don't screw me over by allowing a garbage time touchdown.

Meanwhile, the Raiders and Aaron Brooks are making a serious run at the Browns and the #1 overall draft pick.

Well, it looks like the Raiders and the Clowns will get to square off in two weeks in what's sure to be a big steaming crap-fest. Yay. The loser of that game gets Adrian Peterson.

:slappy:

I have to say that was a fantastic announce team...it's too bad Jaws and Coach won't be in the booth, and Jackoff Theismann and Kornholer will.

Vermeil is an incredible announcer. He has stats that require research to find out, and they are stats that actually effect outcome of games. 25% of scores against the Raiders last year were due to drives being kept alive by penalties. Then he throws the actual numbers out to go along with the percentage, just in case you thought he was making it up. It's great to have him back calling games.

Totally agree.

He was always one of my favorite color men.

I was wondering why I wasn't hearing Brad Nessler doing college football.

They make a great team.

I couldn't get past Vermiel giving credit to Oakland for hiring Shell....like it was a good move.

I could get past it... because I was thinking more about Gov. Schwarzenegger calling Oakland's performance "miraculous" when he was interviewed in the third quarter. Or the part where they asked about his stance on performance enhancing drugs in football. Al Michaels should sue Arnold. His use of the word "miraculous" to describe Oakland forever rendered the word "miracle" useless.

I guess it was miraculous that Aaron Brooks didn't throw any passes backwards or throw a pick into triple coverage. I can't believe that clown is still in the league. As bad as the Browns are, he would't even be on the practice squad in Cleveland.

Who would you have liked to have seen them hire?

Keep in mind that I agree with you on the Shell hire, just interested in who you would have rather had.

When Raiders wide receiver Randy Moss said of his team, "things are crazy around here," he wasn't kidding.

Porter
The San Francisco Chronicle reported on its Web site that disgruntled receiver Jerry Porter who was inactive for the 27-0 drugging the Raiders absorbed from the San Diego Chargers on Monday night, was seen laughing and pumping his fist on the sidelines when Raiders teammate Aaron Brooks was sacked for the seventh time.
Porter's role on the team has greatly diminished after he clashed with new coach Art Shell in the offseason over his offseason workout plans. Porter demanded a trade at the start of training camp, but the Raiders have declined to grant his wish.

Porter was slowed by a calf injury early in training camp but was healthy for the final three preseason games and was not listed on the team's injury report leading up to the game. He was on the sideline in street clothes for this game.

"As far as Jerry Porter is concerned, I really don't know where he stands, what the organization has in store for him," Moss told Fox Sports Radio last week. "So the only thing I can do is worry about the guys they're putting on the field."

Porter led the Raiders with 76 catches last season and had 942 yards receiving and five touchdown receptions in 2005.
He has not been listed as a starter all of training camp, even after the Raiders traded starter Doug Gabriel to New England on Sept. 2.
