Championship Week 2009

Since these little conferences insist on having tournaments and they can't fill a neutral site, at least do what the Horizon League does - finish first in the conference, and you get to host the tourney.

Instead, you get like we have in the Southern Conference. Chattanooga goes 15-16 in the regular season, but it was their turn to host the event. So Charleston and Davidson have to play road games despite having won 25 games this season. Better still, Davidson and Charleston had to play each other in the semis, so Chattanooga only had to beat the winner of that game. So Chattanooga is going to the Dance with an 18-16 record, while the top two teams from their conference finish with 26 wins and miss it.

Iowa finished about 15-16, but they won 13 games at home. Let them host this week's tourney and they would have a shot to win it. Just ain't right, I tell ya.

Nice to know, since Atlanta has apparently moved to the triangle. Cause why else would CBS switch from OT of a conference championship game to the first minute of a meaningless UNC/Duke game.

Jacksonville has been moved as well. Got the same treatment.

Translation - You looked it up and saw only 1 win vs. the RPI top 50, and/or saw that Pomeroy has them at #70, so now you're buying it. :wink2:
You are one perceptive man, BB73. :tongue2:

Oh, yeah, and for some reason I thought Davidson had lost only like 3 games this season, instead of the 7 they have actually lost. I think the Stephen Curry hype blinded me somehow.

North Dakota State wins the Summit League title over 66-64 Oakland to get to the tournament for the first time ever (in their first year eligible to make the tourney)

Ben Woodside hit the game winner with 3.3 seconds left

I was hoping they would get the bid, and they had to come from behind to do it. First year eligible and they make it. What a kick in the head to schools like Northwestern, who have never made it.

Well, if Northworstern were in the Summit League they'd be in.

Cleveland State is tied at Butler with 14 minutes left and a bid on the line. Butler probably makes it either way, but a CSU win would pop someone's bubble. (on ESPN)

CSU had a five point lead and the ball with 5 minutes left and took an inexplicably terrible shot, made worse by a 4th foul on a key player going for a rebound. Not only a wasted opportunity, it could turn the tide in Butler's favor.
