This is the really, really big game of the first part of the 2005 season with more preseason hype than there has been for a non-conference, non-bowl game in several years. The Texas lines will win the battles in the trenches, but the lightning fast Buckeye linebackers will keep Vince Young in check. Everyone will focus on Ted Ginn Jr. and his return abilities after the way Michigan's Steve Breaston ripped through the Longhorns in the Rose Bowl, but don't overlook the Texas returners. Ohio State is 13-0 against teams currently in the Big XII since a 1977 loss to Oklahoma. The streak will continue.
Predicted score in late July: Ohio State 17 ... Texas 14
Oasis Line: Texas -1

If the Buckeyes beat Texas, they'll be flying high for the Big Ten opener with a 3-0 record and a likely top three ranking. Iowa will have played a nasty rivalry game at Iowa State, but it'll also have a nice tune up against Northern Iowa before traveling to Columbus. Linebacker fans are drooling over this game with a matchup of two of the nation's best corps with A.J. Hawk, Chad Greenway, Abdul Hodge, Bobby Carpenter and Anthony Schlegel all on display. The two teams are even in several ways from the linebackers to the questionable running games to the solid receivers to the great coaching, and the close game will reflect that. Iowa pounded Ohio State 33-7 last year, and now Jim Tressel's boys will get their revenge. The Ohio State offensive line will do just enough against the still jelling Iowa D line to help squeak out the win.

Oasis Line: Ohio State -7
