I'm still wondering what Pittman is lacking to become a great back. He's bigger than Hart and faster than him yet people were calling Hart a great back. Pittman has the frame to get up to 210 and keep most of his speed. There is 0 reason to believe he can't become an elite back. When you put up 1,300 yards and 5.5 ypc as a true sophomore in the Big-10 you deserve some hype. I just find it funny that all the preseason rankings like Sutton(who I think deserves the hype), Hart, and Young ahead of him just in the Big-10. Lynell Hamilton(I know he has great size but he also plays for SDSU), Darius Walker, Ahmad Bradshaw, Thomas Brown, James Davis??? WTF? I had a little faith in CFN after this:

4th and One – Shhhh, no one knows – You know how you feel when you have a secret. Just a big, fat juicy one. People around you talk and gossip about a certain situation, but you’re the only one who knows the real deal. As a Buckeye fan, is that how you feel about being a fan of RB Antonio Pittman? Most of the nation heralds Adrian Peterson, Marshawn Lynch or Michael Bush, but would you trade the explosive Pittman for any of those other guys? He’s quicker to the hole than any of the three. His breakaway speed is breathtaking. If he gets a seam, he’s gone. Now, you can’t question how good that trio is, but most people are missing the boat on Pittman. Think DeAngelo Williams without the injuries. He still has to prove that he can run between the tackles week in and week out and not be a bounce runner or just a guy who flourishes outside the numbers. But, you don’t run for over 1,300 yards and seven touchdowns at a place like Ohio State and remain a secret for too long. So, go ahead, Buckeye fans, tell everyone, let everyone know now – Antonio Pittman, it’s a name to remember.

But maybe they were just blowing smoke up our asses.

I think CWells will get the carries that went to Brandon Schnittker and MoWells previously, not Pittman's

That is a 3 to 1 ratio in favor of Pittman.

Don't get me wrong. I love Pittman, think he is a great back and belongs much higher on that list. But we have a very different opinion of Chris Wells. Pittman would not have kept his job against Adrian Peterson and Wells is that caliber of back. Pittman will get half the carries this season at best.

IMO the reason Eric Haw transferred despite all the progress he was making and the high opinion other players had of him is because he looked Wells in the eye this spring and knew it wasn't going to happen.

The good news is that we both have very high opinions of two different RBs on this squad. I can live with either of us being wrong.

No effing way! Do I have high hopes for Wells, hell yeah, but this situation is in no way like the CLarett one, Ross and Hall were average backs at best, Pittman is a good back (could be great). I don't think Wells is as good as Clarett was either, we shall see.

i think the hype on chris wells isn't justified yet... yea he had a decent spring... but decent at best... he still cant block for shit... so when you put him in the game you know what is coming... and if you do put him in the game and your not running the ball, you better hope that troys back isn't turned its going to take some time for Cwells to be the back that everyone is hoping for him to be... so with that said... pittman will still be able to gain atleast 1200 yards easy...

OSU fans are definitely divided on who should get the carries. Some, like me, are really high on Pittman and feel he earned his starting postition and some feel Chris Wells is just too talented not to be starting. Maybe the coaches will try to imitate Auburn's use of Cadillac Williams and Ronnie Brown.

Umm he has no time to watch film and work on this from Spring till opening day???? I assure you he can block, but I agree he has a lot of film study to do in order to read blitzes etc, but I do believe he will be fine. That is a huge advantage to starting in the Spring. It is not just the spring practices but it is all this time from the start till the end of fall practice a player can learn.

im not saying that he wont be able to block down the road but im saying that by him coming out of a run oriented offense in high school he never really had to work on his blocking skills... so he is going to have to work on that coming into the season... that was the same issue with MoWells because coach geis made sure that he ran Mo as much as he could... so Mo didn't have to block so that was one thing he had to work on when he got here at tOSU
