Since January 1, 2006 falls on a Sunday, all the Jan 1 bowls other than the Sugar Bowl have been moved to Monday, Jan 2. To further piss all over any remaining tradition, the Rose Bowl, being the NC game this year, is on Jan 4.

On the positive side, I agree that it's awesome to have 4 days of premier bowls and have the opportunity to watch each game in it's entirety.

On the down side, I'm of the opinion that without it's traditions, it's marching bands, the pageantry, college football just isn't college football. Watching NFL games on New Year's Day, no Rose Bowl ... etc ... this just plain sucks.

The only thing worse than the Rose Bowl not being on Jan 1 is watching Big XII teams play in it.

I had no idea that CFN picked Purdue to beat out Iowa for the #3 spot in the Big 10! It seems like everyone is talking about how this will be Iowa's big year.

CFN expects Purdue to practically win out because of their stupidly easy schedule - the only time they would be considered underdogs (on paper) would be against Iowa, but they play them at home.

It's a goddam travesty...but I'm sure Tiller will be slapping himself on the back and saying how great he is after playing absolutely nobody all season...just like last time we and the 'weenies were off their schedule. How can a team legitimately win the Big Ten without playing Ohio State OR Michigan, and what 2-bit jackoff allowed that scheduling to happen...AGAIN?

Well I don't know if Jim is a 2-bit jackoff, but in the end Mr. Delaney is THE MAN responsible for these things in his role as Big 10 Commissioner.

Fact is that Purdue has a wacky schedule -- ND is on within the B10 season.

(By contrast the two universities up north get ND in the pre-Big 10 weeks).

Purdue gets out of the gate one week later than all others (so less latitude for a bye week).

I'd guess these contingencies wreak havoc with anyone's attempts to make 8 into 11 go around evenly.

No argument though with your core concept, Purdue is getting of easier (and it isn't the first time this has happened).

You thought Iowa got off easy in 02 by not having to play the 14-0 Buckeyes..... guess who avoids both OSU and mich. in 07 and 08. Yep, Iowa. What a crock.
