Discussion of their all-conference players is in another thread.

cfn.Big 10 preview

What Will Happen
- Wisconsin will get out to a 9-0 start before losing to Ohio State in Columbus. The Badgers will bounce back to hand Michigan its first defeat of the year before beating Minnesota in the season-finale to go 11-1 and off to the Rose Bowl. Michigan will also finish 11-1 (helped by a win over Ohio State).
- Ohio State will start out hot thanks to its defense, and then will suffer a collapse at Purdue in a shootout. Losses at Penn State and Michigan will make Jim Tressel’s team an also-ran (but it’ll bounce back in a big way in 2008).
- Wisconsin, Michigan, Penn

They predict that tOSU will drop games at Purdue, Penn State, and TSUN.

cfn.Big 10 game predictions

In their unit rankings:

tOSU is #4 in offense (TSUN, Wiscy, Purdue), #1 in O-Line.
tOSU is #1 in defense and #1 in special teams

cfn.Big 10 unit rankings

Among all that are predictions of only 4 non-conference losses:

Illinois vs Mo (at St Louis)
Illinois at Syracuse
MSU - Pitt
MSU at ND

I'll be happy if the league only has 4 non-conference losses in the regular season.

When can we expect a VBet on MSU-ND? Dantonio's defense versus a rebuilding Irish offense is intriguing...

Can you wait until the Monday before the game? :wink2:

Each week, we'll put up point-spread bets for several games.

BIG TEN NOTEBOOK: Fresh faces abundant on sideline in Big Ten

BIG TEN NOTEBOOK
TODD PORTER

Big Ten coaches might soon need to wear name tags on the sideline. Three make their debuts this weekend as the college football season kicks off.

Say hello to Mark Dantonio at Michigan State, Bill Lynch at Indiana and Tim Brewster in Minnesota. Combined with last year?s three rookies in Wisconsin?s Bret Bielema, Ron Zook at Illinois and Northwestern?s Pat Fitzgerald, it makes a relatively fresh-looking conference.

It really amazes me how many pundits are picking PSU as the trendy upset type of pick, simply because they get us and Wisky at home. White out or not, slightly above average is still just that. Untill you prove to me you can put up points against the big boys I really doubt this team.

People want to say well Morelli is going to turn it around b/c he looked good against an average Tennessee team. Phil Fulmer hasn't been known as the leader of the old Vols lately. Clausen and then Ainge aren't exactly Manning then Tee Martin.

So here's my picks
Purdue, not as good as everyone thinks, they won't be able to put up forty on the bucks. Beating us is not going to happen.
PSU- Unless morelli proves to be a better passer than 50%, not gonna happen, 7 points aren't going to beat the Bucks
Wisky- Will be a solid team, but I feel very one demensional and very beatable
scUM- Yes Henne, Manningham, Hart, and Jake Long are all good players and possible 1-3 round draft picks. But untill they can prove that they don't choke in Big games I will never think it's going to happen. OSU was 6-4 going into the Michigan game last time they had a new QB and beat em with a no name Kid named Troy Smith. Tress gets the boys up for this game.

Do I think its possible to lose one, yes, two maybe, but three no way no how. CFN is a joke, Ever since they joined with those clowns at Scout.

I also tend to doubt PSU. I was one of the loudest voices saying that there would be no problem beating PSU in 2005 since they really hadn't shown much offensive ability and had squeaked by Northwestern. I couldn't believe people thought we'd lose. I truly thought people were idiots. And then.....we lost. PSU then went on a good run for a team that really wasn't particularly good. In any event, it reminded me that we struggle mightily at WampusCat erector set stadium. So, while my suspicion is that the Bucks will likely have a better overall team, I call the PSU game a 'pick-em' at this point because that place isn't easy for us.
