The Musbarger factor. Hmmm. Interesting theory.
It's certainly possible to win an emotional game like this one by 23. Or lose it by 23. Though neither is likely. Looks like two struggling offenses against two pretty damn good defenses. Logic would tell us to expect a low scoring slugfest, perhaps a repeat of Wisky's 9-7 game away at Arizona. Mili, I think your signature line is safe this week.
At the Shoe, noise alone should give our defense an advantage, if it's loud enough to disrupt their play calling and rattle their QB.
The real question is "How will tOSU offense respond to its universally recognized mediocrity this year?" Bollman is under pressure, Zwick is under pressure, Ross and the other RBs are under pressure, the O-line is under pressure and JT himself is under pressure. Whether they respond to that pressure by excelling or by collapsing will tell the tale of this game. If they rise to the occasion, 23 is not such a silly prediction. But there's little evidence thus far this year to support such optimism.

A steady stream of execution would be nice. The offense has proven deadly in the first half against Marshall and in flashes since. Notably the last drive against Marshall and a good deal of the 4th quarter against Northwestern. But that's just part of two quarters.
You can never actually EXPECT us to win by much. But it's a nice hope to have.

X-Box Pre Game Indicator
Just played 5 minute quarters vs the computer as OSU vs Wisconsin. Something I forgot to do last week. Wisconsin's offense gave me no trouble. I selected the base 4-3 every time, didn't even touch the controller and they couldn't do anything. Less than 50 total yards. Santonio was spectacular in all facets and Nuge was named MVP of the game, going 4-4 on FGs and 2-2 on PATs as we won 26-0. Nuge hit from 39,53,53 and 40. The longer 2 on the left hash. Ross and the o-line looked pretty good. Zwick threw into coverage a few times but no picks. No turnovers for either team. No penalties.
I'm feeling better already. It's 6:19 and I'm in boxers and have to meet people for dinner at 6:30.

scUM will beat the piss out of Minnesota. I have very little doubt about that. And if not, I'm not worried. The Gophers and the Boilers are good for about 1 to 2 B10 losses a season. If they don't lose here, they'll get upset somewhere down the road. And if they do beat scUM, they'll get beat next week by whoever they play in a 'let-down' game.

Don't be too sold on this theory. Brent called the '01 Buckeyes-Badger game, and look how that turned out. In fact, in that game, right after Lydell broke off a big run and we're up 17-0 (or 17-3, 17-7 something like that), Brent yells, "Do you hear it Columbus? The BUCKEYES ARE BACK!!" On cue, Bells throws an awful INT a play or two after that, and the Badgers roll. They scored however many unanswered points and won 20-17.
If memory serves, I also think that Brent called the '99 Whisky game at the 'Shoe. And that game was a disaster. It ruined our season. Don't quote me on that, but I think he called that game.
